  1. 16. Nye skabelsesberetninger om æg, sæd og embryoner : Et etnografisk studie af skabelser på sædbanker og fertilitetsklinikker

    Författare :Stine Adrian; Nina Lykke; Marit Melhuus; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Gender studies; Assisted reproduction; creation stories; material-discursive relations; agency; emotions; situated knowledges; nature culture; gender; ethnography; performativity; feminist new materialist theory; sexual dimorphism; Genusforskning; Assisterad befruktning; skapelseberättelser; materiellt-diskursiva relationer; agens; känslor; situated knowledges; natur kultur; kön; etnografi; performativitet; feministisk ny materialitesteori; visuella representationer; köns dimorfism;

    Sammanfattning : Avhandlingen handlar om användandet av assisterad befruktning i Danmark och Sverige. Teknologierna är intressanta eftersom de skapar möjligheter för barn att födas som annars inte skulle ha blivit till. De utmanar också normerande föreställningar om sexualitet, etnicitet, normalitet, ålder, kön och släktskap. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Quantitative Trait Evolution in a Changing Environment in a Seed Beetle

    Författare :Lára R. Hallsson; Mats Björklund; Derek A. Roff; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantitative trait; genetic variance; environmental change; temperature; seed beetle; sexual dimorphism; plasticity; inheritance; Animal Ecology; Zooekologi;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decades the climate has been changing more rapidly than in the preceding periods. This is for instance characterized by an increase in temperature. Interestingly, such changes in the environment are not necessarily constant over time as they often show high levels of fluctuation. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Sex and violence in lobsters - a smelly business

    Författare :Malin Skog; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dominance; urine signals; recognition; Aggressive behaviours; intermoult mating; sexual dimorphism; European lobster; chemical communication; Homarus gammarus; aesthetasc morphology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study the chemical communication involved in aggressive and reproductive behaviours in the European lobster (Homarus gammarus). Both male and female H. gammarus established and maintained dominance, but the sexes used different strategies for dominance maintenance. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Causes and consequences of quantitative trait variation for reproductive performance in hole nesting birds

    Författare :Robert Przybylo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; timing of breeding; climate change; parental and territorial quality; morphology; sexual size dimorphism; intersexual niche differentiation; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; Animal Ecology; zooekologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the causes and consequences of environmental variability and individual morphological differences on breeding success and survival in three hole nesting birds.An analysis of directional and stabilising natural selection in Collared Flycatchers (Ficedula albicollis) suggested that forces of selection acting on quantitative traits are weak and cannot explain the observed sexual size dimorphism (SSD) in this species. 5. 20. Brood sex ratio and sex differences in Tengmalm’s owl : (Aegolius funereus)

    Författare :Tim Hipkiss; Gary Bortolotti; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aegolius funereus; avian CHD1 genes; brood sex ratio; differential mortality; nomadism; northern Sweden; sexual size dimorphism; sibling rivalry; supplementary feeding; vole cycles; zooekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Males and females differ in morphology and behaviour, so that selection acts differently on the two sexes. This changes the relative reproductive success of males and females, and it is beneficial for parents to bias the sex ratio of their broods in favour of the sex with the best survival and breeding prospects.
