21. Examining the role of metabolism in Myc-driven tumorigenesis
Sammanfattning : Myc transcriptionally regulates genes involved in processes such as cell proliferation, metabolism, differentiation, and angiogenesis. MYC expression is deregulated in many types of human cancer; therefore discovering the mechanisms behind MYCs role in tumorigenesis is essential. LÄS MER
22. Cationic Interactions with Nucleic Acids With Focus on Anticancer Active Platinum(II) Complexes
Sammanfattning : It is well documented that the antitumour activity of the Pt(II)-complex cisplatin, and similar anticancer active complexes, is a result of metalation of DNA, and thereby inhibition of cell proliferation. Since nucleic acids are polyanions at physiological pH, the rate of adduct formation with positively charged complex, as the hydrolyzed Pt(II) complexes studied in this work, is influenced by the ionic environment surrounding the polymer. 23. New approaches to preparation of macroporous monoliths for use in liquid chromatography
Sammanfattning : High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is one of the major techniques in separat-ion sciences. Faster separation and higher efficiency are required to meet ever-growing demands. Despite numerous studies and achievements on improving mass transfer in particulate packings discontinuity seems to be the cornerstone drawback in their development. LÄS MER
24. REGULATED UPTAKE OF BIOPOLYMERS Role of cell surface proteoglycans Implications for drug and gene delivery
Sammanfattning : Cells continuously export, import, and recycle molecules over the plasma membrane. Internalization, i.e. cellular import of extracellular material, is a fundamental process, which provides cells with nutrients and enables the immune cells of higher organisms to remove debris, sample their surroundings for antigens and to fight microbes. 25. Integrated Micro-Analytical Tools for Life Science
Sammanfattning : Advances in life science require knowledge of active molecules in complex biological systems. These molecules are often only present for a certain time and at limited concentrations. LÄS MER
