  2. 2. Organic Phosphorus Compounds in Aquatic Sediments : Analysis, Abundance and Effects

    Författare :Joakim Ahlgren; Emil Rydin; Monica Waldebäck; Lars Tranvik; Karin Markides; Sven Blomqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Organic phosphorus; aquatic sediment; eutrophication; NMR; internal loading; sample preparation; extraction; degradation; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Phosphorus (P) is often the limiting nutrient in lacustrine and brackish eco-systems, and enhanced input of P into an aquatic system might therefore negatively impact the environment. Because modern waste water manage-ment have reduced external P input to surface waters, internal P loading from the sediment has become one of the main P sources to aquatic ecosys-tems, in which relatively unknown organic P compounds seem to be more active in P recycling than previously thought. 3. 3. Development of Techniques and Methods for the Quantitative Analysis of Endogenous Substances by Microcolumn Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry

    Författare :Ardeshir Amirkhani; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Fritz Erni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is a powerful technique for the analysis of endogenous compounds. The introduction of electrospray ionization (ESI) as an interface between LC and MS has contributed strongly to a trend towards miniaturization of LC, due to the possibility to perform ESI at low flow rates. Sammanfattning : Advances in life science require knowledge of active molecules in complex biological systems. These molecules are often only present for a certain time and at limited concentrations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Microscale Tools for Sample Preparation, Separation and Detection of Neuropeptides

    Författare :Andreas Dahlin; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Robert T. Kennedy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Neuropeptides; Microchip; Enhanced microdialysis; Poly dimethylsiloxane PDMS ; Electrospray ionization ESI ; Multidimensional separation; Electrochemical manipulation; Mass spectrometry MS ; Capillary electrophoresis CE ; Microdevice; Microfabrication; Micro total analysis system μ-TAS ; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The analysis of low abundant biological molecules is often challenging due to their chemical properties, low concentration and limited sample volumes. Neuropeptides are one group of molecules that fits these criteria. Neuropeptides also play an important role in biological functions, which makes them extra interesting to analyze. LÄS MER
