  1. 1. Metabolism of articular cartilage proteoglycans in vitro : effects of synovial membrane products and mechanical pressure

    Författare :Agneta Klämfeldt; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Articular cartilage; Proteoglycan metabolism; Synovial membrane products; Mechanical stress; Indom ethacin; Glucocorticoids; Prostaglandins; Osteoarthritis; Rheumatoid arthritis;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of synovial membrane products and mechanical pressure upon the metabolism of articular cartilage proteoglycans has been studied in vitro. The degradation of cartilage proteoglycans was studied in an organ culture system and measured as the release of [35S ] sulphate from prelabelled cartilage. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pharmacological and genetic manipulation of adipose cell differentiation and metabolism

    Författare :Milica Vranic; Maria J. Pereira; Jan Eriksson; Niklas Mejhert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipose tissue; adipocyte; type 2 diabetes; CRISP Cas9; FKBP51; CDKN2C; second-generation antipsychotics; glucocorticoids; dopamine; dopamine receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Adipose tissue dysfunction has a pivotal role in the development of obesity and related metabolic complications, such as insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. The overall aim was to study the consequences of adipose exposure to pharmacological agents, as well as dysregulations in the expression of genes, potentially involved in adipose tissue dysfunction and related metabolic impairments. 3. 3. Alterations in peripheral glucocorticoid metabolism : effects of weight changes

    Författare :Kotryna Simonyté; Cecilia Mattsson; Bo Angelin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 11ß Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1; obesity; glucocorticoids; cortisol; phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase; adipose tissue; liver; Endocrinology; Endokrinologi; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: An important role has been suggested for tissue-specific glucocorticoid metabolism in the development of obesity and its complications. 11ß hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1 (11ßHSD1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the interconversion of biologically inactive cortisone to active cortisol, thereby regulating its access to glucocorticoid receptors in target tissues. 4. 4. Laminins and Fibulins in Bone Marrow

    Författare :Yu-Chen Gu; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glucocorticoids; integrin; Immunology; serology; Immunologi; serologi; transplantation; Cytology; oncology; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; cancer; onkologi; cancerology; Cytologi; fibulin; laminin; bone marrow;

    Sammanfattning : Development of hematopoietic cells in bone marrow takes place in association with the hematopoietic microenvironment. Extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules and stromal cells in bone marrow provide a structural environment for hematopoietic cells, but they also directly influence proliferation, differentiation and migration of cells by signal transduction mediated by ligand binding to cell surface adhesion receptors. 5. 5. Role of nuclear receptors in the regulation of human adipose tissue metabolism

    Författare :Prasad G. Kamble; Jan W Eriksson; Ingrid Dahlman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :human adipose tissue; nuclear receptors; glucocorticoids; estrogen; PPARγ; lipocalin 2; glucose uptake; lipolysis; adipogenesis; genotype-based recall;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors modulate expression of genes involved in adipose tissue (AT) metabolism. Their improved understanding may provide new treatment options for metabolic disorders such as obesity, insulin resistance (IR) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). LÄS MER
