16. Molecular Studies of Three Coliphage Repressor Proteins P2 C, P2 Hy dis C and Wphi C : Kinetics, Oligomeric States and Structural Studies
Sammanfattning : P2, P2 Hy dis and WΦ are heteroimmune and closely related E. coli phages that can either grow lytically or form lysogeny after infection. The developmental switch region that contains two divergent promoters, the early Pe and the lysogenic Pc promoter, and two repressors, controls the life mode of the phage. LÄS MER
17. Cotranslational protein biogenesis in Escherichia coli monitored by force profile analysis
Sammanfattning : Proteins are a diverse class of biomolecules that carry out many essential functions across all organisms. They can either be found in aqueous compartments or embedded in biological membranes of the cell and are called soluble or membrane proteins, respectively. LÄS MER
18. The temperature-limited fed-batch technique for control of Escherichia coli cultures
Sammanfattning : The objective of this study was to investigate the physiology and productivity in Escherichia colicultures with emphasis on the temperature-limited fed-batch (TLFB) culture. The TLFB techniquecontrols the oxygen consumption rate of the growing culture by a gradually declining temperaturefrom 37-35 °C down to 20-18 °C. LÄS MER
19. Ribosomal RNA Modification Enzymes : Structural and functional studies of two methyltransferases for 23S rRNA modification in Escherichia coli
Sammanfattning : Escherichia coli ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is post-transcriptionally modified by site-specific enzymes. The role of most modifications is not known and little is known about how these enzymes recognize their target substrates. LÄS MER
20. Synthesis and functionalization of ring-fused 2-pyridones : Targeting pili formation in E. coli
Sammanfattning : Bicyclic dihydrothiazolo fused 2-pyridones have been studied as a new class of antibacterial agents, termed pilicides, that target the formation of adhesive bacterial surface organelles (pili) in pathogenic bacteria. Synthetic methods to further functionalize the bicyclic 2-pyridone scaffold have been developed in order to increase water-solubility and thereby facilitate biological evalua-tions. LÄS MER
