  1. 6. Pictures and a Thousand Words : Learning Psychology through Visual Illustrations and Testing

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Jägerskog; Fredrik Jönsson; Staffan Selander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; learning; multimedia learning; retrieval practice; testing effect; visual illustration; learning styles; visualiser; verbaliser; Subject Learning and Teaching; ämnesdidaktik;

    Sammanfattning : For teachers and students to be able to make informed decisions about how to best improve learning, it is important to compare learning strategies that are known to be effective. Both multimedia learning, based on the notion that individuals learn better from words and pictures presented together than from words alone, and retrieval practice, based on the idea that retrieving knowledge from the memory is an active process that has a beneficial impact on learning, have been found robust learning strategies in earlier research. 2. 7. Structural System-Level Testing of Embedded Real-Time Systems

    Författare :Daniel Sundmark; Henrik Thane; Hans Hansson; Andreas Ermedahl; Insup Lee; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; real-time systems; testing; monitoring; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : People make mistakes. Software engineers are no exception to this fact. When software engineers make mistakes, these manifest in the form of buggy software - a major problem in today's industry. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Finger-Joints for Laminated Beams : Experimental and Numerical Studies of Mechanical Behaviour

    Författare :Erik Serrano; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Finger-joints; Laminated timber; Testing; Nonlinear fracture mechanics; Finite Elemente Method; Lamininating effect;

    Sammanfattning : The introduction of laminated timber, glulam being an example, allowed many of the disadvantages associated with solid wood to be overcome. The disadvantages in question are mainly those related to the size and shape limits of structural elements made of solid wood and to the large variability in such material properties of solid wood as strength and stiffness. 4. 9. Weldability of Precipitation Hardening Superalloys – Influence of Microstructure

    Författare :Joel Håkan Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hot cracking; GTAW; Transvarestraint testing; Varestraint testing; Gleeble testing; Solidification cracking; HAZ liquation cracking; Repair welding; Strain age cracking; EBW; DSC thermal analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Superalloys and in particular the precipitation hardened Ni-based superalloys havealways been used extensively in the hot sections of jet engines. Large hot structuralengine components with complex geometry have preferably been cast as single piececomponents since the large scale vacuum investment casting process becameavailable about fifty years ago. 5. 10. Effects of retrieval and articulation on memory

    Författare :Max Larsson Sundqvist; Fredrik Jönsson; Timo Mäntylä; Peter Verkoeijen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; testing effect; covert retrieval; overt retrieval; judgments of learning; delayed JOL effect; response format; retention interval; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Many would agree that learning occurs when new information is stored in memory. Therefore, most learning efforts typically focus on encoding processes, such as additional study or other forms of repetition. However, as I will outline in this thesis, there are other means by which to improve memory, such as retrieval practice in the form of tests. LÄS MER
