  1. 1. Effects of retrieval and articulation on memory

    Författare :Max Larsson Sundqvist; Fredrik Jönsson; Timo Mäntylä; Peter Verkoeijen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; testing effect; covert retrieval; overt retrieval; judgments of learning; delayed JOL effect; response format; retention interval; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Many would agree that learning occurs when new information is stored in memory. Therefore, most learning efforts typically focus on encoding processes, such as additional study or other forms of repetition. However, as I will outline in this thesis, there are other means by which to improve memory, such as retrieval practice in the form of tests. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Inhibition of Calcium and Zinc Absorption by Phytate in Man Methodological Studies and Hydrothermal Processing of Cereals to Improve Absorption

    Författare :Kerstin Fredlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; barley; wheat; rye; 65Zn; oats; zinc absorption; whole grains; InsP6; hydrothermal processing; calcium absorption; rice; radionuclide technique; 47Ca; extrinsic labelling; phytate; hydrothermal treatment; myo-inositol; calcium retention; whole-body counting;

    Sammanfattning : A mathematical model based on measurements in a whole-body counter described the retention of calcium in the human body. It was shown that the relative retention of intravenous and orally administered 47Ca in all subjects (n = 10 - 11) were well described by fitting a simple function of time with two free parameters to a few whole-body measurements after day 6, when the unabsorbed calcium had been excreted. 3. 3. Retention during the first year of HIV care and the effect of an interactive text-messaging service on patient engagement in care

    Författare :Mia Liisa van der Kop; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Retention in HIV care is critical to ensure timely treatment initiation, viral suppression, reduced transmission, and to prevent AIDS-related deaths. Retention in care is low and falls short of the level needed to meet the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The effect of a text-messaging intervention on retention in care for women living with HIV and their infants in Kenya

    Författare :Björn Nordberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Retention in prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV care is crucial to reduce vertical HIV transmission, and to improve the health and survival of women living with HIV and their infants. HIV-related stigma, social concerns, and non-disclosure of HIV status are barriers to participate in PMTCT care, which potentially could be addressed by supporting women with an interactive text-messaging intervention. 5. 5. Justice needs a blindfold : Effects of defendants’ gender and attractiveness on judicial evaluation

    Författare :Angela S. Ahola; Sven Å. Christianson; Leslie Zebrowitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; stereotype; gender; appearance; attractiveness; emotionality; violence; vividness; eye witness; memory; Cognitive science; Kognitionsforskning; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Gender and appearance affect our judgments regarding an individual’s personality, profession, and morality, and create a reference frame within which to act toward that person. The main question of the present thesis is whether these kinds of stereotypical conceptions have implications for the judicial process: how professionals within the judicial process evaluate and judge a defendant, and how and what eyewitnesses remember.
