  1. 1. Transcriptional Regulation of the Platelet-Derived Growth Factor beta-receptor

    Författare :Anders Hackzell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PDGF; cell cycle; p73; p53; SV40; NF-Y; Sp1; Myc;

    Sammanfattning : The Platelet Derived-Growth Factor (PDGF) receptors and ligands are expressed in cells of predominantly mesenchymal origin. Binding of the ligands to the receptors stimulates cell proliferation and other cellular responses such as differentiation and cell movement. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Insulin-like Growth Factor System: functional role and regulation in carcinomas

    Författare :Ann Rosendahl; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; PTEN; Transforming Growth Factor-beta; Insulin-like Growth Factor; Renal Cell Carcinoma; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system demonstrates numerous actions during neoplastic growth and is therefore an interesting target with potential clinical implications. While numerous studies have established important roles of the IGF system in regulating cellular growth and survival of several tumor forms, very limited reports exist regarding its role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). 3. 3. Molecular studies of pancreatic cancer: Characterization of the transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway

    Författare :Tord Jonson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SMAD4; PCR; FISH; cytogenetics; chromosome; pancreatic cancer; TGFB signaling; cytogenetik; Genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, genetic abnormalities in pancreatic cancer were studied, with special emphasis on alterations of components involved in the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) signaling pathway. In the first study, fluorescence in situ hybridization and cytogenetic analyses revealed aberrations of chromosome 18 in all 13 pancreatic carcinoma cell lines studied, in particular frequent breaks close to the centromere of chromosome arm 18q. 4. 4. Experimental Models of the Human Peritoneal Environment: Effects of TGF-beta and Hyaluronan

    Författare :Peter Falk; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Adhesion formation; experimental model; cell culture; mesothelial cells; peritoneum; fibrinolytic system; transforming growth factor beta; hyaluronan; proliferation;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND Post surgical adhesion formation is still an unsolved problem and occurs when there is an imbalance between fibrin deposition and fibrin clearing capacity in the abdominal cavity. Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-?) is associated with fibrosis and hyaluronan has in several studies been showed to reduce adhesions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of Hematopoietic Stem Cells

    Författare :Emma Rörby; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematopoiesis; hematopoietic stem cells; hematopoietic stem cell expansion; cord blood; transforming growth factor beta; Smad signaling; pigment epithelium derived factor; CD9;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about the regulation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) that represent rare cells residing in the bone marrow (BM) of adults. They are multipotent cells that have the capacity to differentiate to all mature cells of the blood system and have the capacity to self-renew, i.e. generate new HSCs. LÄS MER
