1. Acute Pancreatitis. Biomarkers and radiology assessment
Sammanfattning : Background: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common and potentially severe disease. Early identification of severity grade is crucial for the outcome of the patient. For study approaches and comparison of inter-institutional data the AP patients need to be uniformly classified. LÄS MER
2. MRI assessment of haemophilic arthropathy
Sammanfattning : Haemophilia is a recessive genetic bleeding disorder in which coagulation time is prolonged due to the absence or malfunction of either of the serum proteins Factor VIII or IX. Joint destruction following repeated haemarthroses is the main cause of morbidity in haemophiliacs, and such arthropathy can be prevented or postponed by implementing prophylactic therapy with factor concentrate at an early age. 3. Visual assessment of perfusion and metabolism in neurodegenerative dementia
Sammanfattning : A worldwide demographic shift is currently occurring, with rapidly increasing numbers of elderly individuals. Since the incidence of neurodegenerative disease generally increases with age, this entails an increase in dementia prevalence. LÄS MER
4. Assessment of Renal Physiology Using Functional MRI
Sammanfattning : Kidney injury is a major cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world, leading to substantial individual suffering and to a heavy financial burden for the society. A large number of common conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases and infections are highly associated with kidney injury. LÄS MER
5. Nuclear magnetic resonance and microcirculation: The influence of pulsatile brain-tissue motion on measurements of intravoxel incoherent motion and assessment of haemodynamics using exo- and endogenous tracers
Sammanfattning : In this project, the potential of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and spectroscopy in studies of microcirculation and haemodynamics was evaluated. The spatial and temporal characteristics of human pulsatile brain-tissue movements in healthy individuals, relevant for the understanding of the cerebrospinal-fluid (CSF) circulation and the pathogenesis of hydrocephalus, were thoroughly investigated.
