1. MRI assessment of haemophilic arthropathy
Sammanfattning : Haemophilia is a recessive genetic bleeding disorder in which coagulation time is prolonged due to the absence or malfunction of either of the serum proteins Factor VIII or IX. Joint destruction following repeated haemarthroses is the main cause of morbidity in haemophiliacs, and such arthropathy can be prevented or postponed by implementing prophylactic therapy with factor concentrate at an early age. 2. Haemophilia B - Diagnostic Insights, Genetic Aspects and Clinical Outcomes
Sammanfattning : Haemophilia B (HB) is a rare inherited bleeding disorder caused by the deficiency of coagulation factor IX (FIX). The major clinical issues are bleedings, often targeting the joints, and the development of neutralising antibodies, i.e. inhibitors, to the FIX replacement therapy. LÄS MER
3. Arthroscopic Bankart reconstruction using different absorbable tacks. The clinical results, radiographic findings and effect on calcaneal bone mineral
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT The aim of the thesis was to explore the clinical and radiographic results after post- traumatic anterior shoulder instability treated with arthroscopic Bankart surgery using absorbable tacks with different compositions. Further aims were to explore possible effects on bone mineral in the heel bone and health-related quality of life after a shoulder-stabilising surgical procedure. LÄS MER
4. Mortality and co-morbidity among patients with hemochromatosis and their first-degree relatives
Sammanfattning : Genetic hemochromatosis (GH) is an autosomal recessive disease caused by a C282Y mutation in the HFEgene, and is characterized by excess iron accumulation in multiple organs. Classical manifestations of GH include liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, diabetes mellitus, cardiomyopathy, and arthritis. LÄS MER
5. Rotator Cuff Tears : Short- and long-term aspects on treatment outcome
Sammanfattning : Rotator cuff tear is a common disorder and there is a lack of knowledge of appropriate treatment and consequences of different treatment modalities. The overall aim of this thesis was to examine short- and long-term results of rotator cuff tear treatment. LÄS MER
