  1. 11. DNA-Mediated Detection and Profiling of Protein Complexes

    Författare :Maria Hammond; Ulf Landegren; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Christof Niemeyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proximity ligation assay; Protein complexes; Protein interactions; Biomarkers; Prions; Antibodies; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are the effector molecules of life. They are encoded in DNA that is inherited from generation to generation, but most cellular functions are executed by proteins. Proteins rarely act on their own – most actions are carried out through an interplay of tens of proteins and other biomolecules. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Protein tyrosine kinases in insulin producing cells : Expression and putative importance for beta-cell function

    Författare :Charlotte Öberg-Welsh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinase; insulin producing cells; fetal development; VEGF; Src-family; Bsk; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases are of importance for cell replication and differentiation in manysystems. The mechanisms controlling the replication and differentiation of insulin producingcells are unknown. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Protein Folding, Binding and Evolution : PDZ domains and paralemmins as model systems

    Författare :Greta Hultqvist; Per Jemth; Ruth Nussinov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein folding; evolution; binding; allostery; Paralemmin; PDZ domain;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins present at the synapse need to be multitasking in order to perform all vital functions in this limited space. In this thesis I have analyzed the function and evolution of such proteins, focusing on the PDZ domain and the paralemmin family. The PDZ domains bind to a wide variety of interaction partners. Sammanfattning : Chronic pain affects 20 % of the global population, causes suffering, is difficult to treat, and constitutes a large economic burden for society. So far, the characterization of molecular mechanisms of chronic pain-like behaviors in animal models has not translated into effective treatments. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Arabidopsis 14-3-3 family -target protein specificity and expression of isoforms

    Författare :Annika Arkell; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein-protein interaction; GUS; Arabidopsis; 14-3-3; H -ATPase; expression;

    Sammanfattning : 14-3-3 proteins comprise a family of highly conserved proteins. 14-3-3 proteins have been found in all organisms examined except for members of the prokaryotic kingdom. 14-3-3s are involved in numerous processes in the cell and they typically bind to phosphorylated motifs in other proteins and regulate their activities.
