  1. 1. Proteomic Analysis of Urinary Bladder Cancer : Aiming for Novel Biomarkers

    Författare :Mårten Lindén; Per-Uno Malmström; Ulrika Segersten; Sara Bergström Lind; Lars Egevad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :urine; APOE; FGB; GAL1; LRG1; POLR1E; SERPINA1; STMN1; TOP2A; biomarker; diagnostic biomarker; prognostic biomarker; predictive biomarker; mass spectrometry; western blot; dot blot; immunohistochemistry; IHC; tissue microarray; TMA; urothelium; antibody; antibody-based; urinblåsecancer; biomarkör; diagnos; prognos; urin; proteomik; masspektrometri; immunohistokemi; antikroppar; Molecular Biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary bladder cancer is a heterogeneous disease appearing in different forms, e.g. non-muscle invasive and muscle invasive. For all variants, the expression of proteins is interesting to analyze for diagnostic, predictive, prognostic and drug targeting purposes, since it reflects the altered gene expression causing the cancer. 2. 2. New Prognostic Markers in Stage III Serous Ovarian Adenocarcinomas

    Författare :Karolina Partheen; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Ovarian cancer; Biomarker; Prognostic factors; Integrin beta 3;

    Sammanfattning : Ovarian carcinoma is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in Swedish women. Patients with advanced-stage disease respond differently to treatment, and the clinical outcome is difficult to predict for an individual patient. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The impact of the progranulin-sortilin axis on breast cancer stem cell activity and patient outcome

    Författare :Karoline Berger; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; biomarker; cancer stem cells; microenvironment; progranulin; sortilin; interleukin-6; targeted therapy; prognostic;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide. Still today, despite current breast cancer therapies, many patients experience treatment resistance and relapse, which are believed to be due to failure in targeting treatment-resistant cancer stem cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Biomarker Discovery in Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma : A Study Based on Tissue Microarrays and Immunohistochemistry

    Författare :Margrét Agnarsdóttir; Fredrik Ponten; Peter Naredi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antibody-based proteomics; automated analysis; biomarker; immunohistochemistry; malignant melanoma; survival; tissue microarray; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; Pathology; Patologi; Molecular medicine; Molekylär medicin; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The incidence of cutaneous malignant melanoma has increased dramatically in Caucasians the last few decades, an increase that is partly explained by altered sun exposure habits. For the individual patient, with a localized disease, the tumor thickness of the excised lesion is the most important prognostic factor. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular Characterisation and Prognostic Biomarker Discovery in Human Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Författare :Karolina Edlund; Patrick Micke; Martin Schuler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-small cell lung cancer; biomarker; prognosis; microarray; copy number aberration; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) constitutes a clinically, histologically, and genetically heterogeneous disease entity that represents a major cause of cancer-related death. Early-stage patients, who undergo surgery with curative intent, experience high recurrence rates and the effect of adjuvant treatment is modest. LÄS MER
