1. Metabolic effects of interleukin-6
Sammanfattning : The levels of the cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the circulation are positively correlated with indices of obesity and metabolic disturbances. Paradoxically, plasma IL-6 levels increase markedly during prolonged and strenuous exercise, mainly due to increased production and release from working skeletal muscle. LÄS MER
2. Interleukin-6 as a mediator of insulin resistance
Sammanfattning : A potential role of interleukin (IL)-6 for the metabolic abnormalities seen in obesity and insulinresistance was postulated when it was discovered that circulating IL-6 levels were elevated in obeseand insulin-resistant as well as type 2 diabetic individuals. Later it was shown that the adipose tissuewas a major site of IL-6 production, accounting for 15-35% of the total circulating levels. LÄS MER
3. Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I) and Interleukin-6 (IL-6) regulate body fat
Detta är en avhandling från GöteborgSammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the role of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the regulation of metabolism and body fat mass. Circulating IGF-I is mainly liver derived, while a large part of circulating IL-6 is produced by adipose tissue. LÄS MER
4. The Role of Interleukin-6 in the Febrile Response
