  1. 1. Proteomic Analysis of Urinary Bladder Cancer : Aiming for Novel Biomarkers

    Författare :Mårten Lindén; Per-Uno Malmström; Ulrika Segersten; Sara Bergström Lind; Lars Egevad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :urine; APOE; FGB; GAL1; LRG1; POLR1E; SERPINA1; STMN1; TOP2A; biomarker; diagnostic biomarker; prognostic biomarker; predictive biomarker; mass spectrometry; western blot; dot blot; immunohistochemistry; IHC; tissue microarray; TMA; urothelium; antibody; antibody-based; urinblåsecancer; biomarkör; diagnos; prognos; urin; proteomik; masspektrometri; immunohistokemi; antikroppar; Molecular Biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary bladder cancer is a heterogeneous disease appearing in different forms, e.g. non-muscle invasive and muscle invasive. For all variants, the expression of proteins is interesting to analyze for diagnostic, predictive, prognostic and drug targeting purposes, since it reflects the altered gene expression causing the cancer. 2. 2. Helicobacter pylori and its Association with Gastric and Oesophageal Carcinomas

    Författare :Henrik Simán; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; Western blot; CagA; Helicobacter pylori; Gastric adenocarcinoma; Oesophageal carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common infections in man. The infection is often acquired during childhood and usually results in a chronic life-long inflammation in the gastric mucosa. The aim of our studies was to investigate the association between H. pylori seropositivity and the development of gastric and oesophageal carcinomas. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Validation of antibodies for protein profiling : A study using immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays

    Författare :Linda Paavilainen; Fredrik Pontén; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antibody validation; monospecific antibodies; protein profiling; immunohistochemistry; tissue microarrays; western blot; fixatives; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The field of proteomics has rapidly expanded due to the completion of the human genome sequence. This thesis validates affinity-purified monospecific antibodies of polyclonal origin, for protein profiling in a broad spectrum of normal tissues and cells. LÄS MER

    Författare :Anders Lidgren; Börje Ljungberg; Torgny Rasmuson; Kjell Grankvist; Anders Bergh; Per-Uno Malmström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; renal cell carcinoma; hypoxia; RT-PCR; angiogenesis; western blot; tissue microarray; protein; mRNA; HIF-1 alpha; GLUT-1; survival; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1α in Renal Cell Carcinoma Departments of Surgical and Perioperative Sciences, Urology and Andrology; Radiation Sciences, Oncology; Medical Biosciences, Pathology; and Medical Biosciences, Clinical Chemistry, Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for approximately 2-3% of all human cancers. A distinguished feature of RCC is vascularisation and among the three dominating RCC types conventional RCC (cRCC) generally is more vascularised than papillary RCC (pRCC) and chromophobe RCC (chRCC). 5. 5. Giant cell arteritis. Epidemiological, morphological and molecular genetic studies

    Författare :Vigdís Pétursdóttir; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Giant cell arteritis; temporal artery; aorta; epidemiology; atrophy; calcification; estrogen receptor a; morphometry; immunocytochemistry; Western blot; molecular genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, affecting large and medium-sized arteries, predominantly in postmenopausal women. Its pathogenesis is probably multifactorial. Several studies suggest that GCA is an antigen-driven disease. LÄS MER
