  1. 1. Breast cancer : Multifocality, heterogeneity, and related genetic signatures

    Författare :Gyula Pekar; Dumanski Jan; Sapino Anna; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :breast; breast cancer multifocality; molecular phenotypes; intertumoral heterogeneity; biobanking; gene copy number aberrations;

    Sammanfattning : Breast carcinoma often exhibits a complex subgross morphology and may occupy a large volume of the breast tissue and show unifocal, multifocal or diffuse growth patterns. Expression of estrogen- and progesterone receptors, HER2 overexpression, tumor grade, and proliferative activity allows us to classify breast carcinoma into molecular subgroups (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-type, triple negative, and basal-like). 2. 2. Clinical Aspects of Hereditary Breast Cancer

    Författare :Niklas Loman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []

    Sammanfattning : A positive family history of breast cancer (BC) is one of the strongest predictors of the disease. Two major BC susceptibility genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2 were identified about a decade ago. In this thesis, studies of different biological. clinical and epidemiological aspects of hereditary BC are presented. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prostate cancer : epidemiological studies of risk factors

    Författare :Camilla Thellenberg Karlsson; Beatrice Malmer; Henrik Grönberg; Anders Bergh; Peter Iversen; Jan-Erik Damber; Gunnar Aus; Umeå universitet; Gothenburg University; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : In spite of the fact that prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in both Sweden and many other countries in the developed world, little is known of risk factors and predisposing conditions. The only well recognized risk factors are age, race and familial aggregation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular Cytogenetics in Sporadic Breast Cancer

    Författare :Karin Rennstam; Bröstcancer-genetik; []

    Sammanfattning : In recent time breast cancer has become the most common form of female cancer in the western world. It has been estimated that the lifetime risk of women falling ill from the disease is 10%. The number of patients diagnosed each year has been increasing steadily since the 1970s. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Obesity, Adipocytes and Breast Cancer – Insights from Translational Studies

    Författare :Malin Bergqvist; Bröstcancer - prevention & intervention; []

    Sammanfattning : Background: Being overweight is becoming the new normal, and more than half of the adult Swedish population is overweight which poses a risk to public health. Overweight and obese women have both an increased risk and a worse prognosis for breast cancer, compared with women of normal weight. LÄS MER
