In their production of regular verbs, beginners use a short form, like parle, and a long form, like parlE, in contexts of both the present (je parl/*je parlE) and the infinitive (je veux parlE/*je veux parl).     Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the impact of previously acquired or learned background languages (BL) on the learning of Italian as a third language (L3) among undergraduate students in the Swedish context. Focusing on the learning of past tense-aspect (TA) inflectional categories in Italian, the thesis investigates the influence of Swedish, English and Romance languages, French or Spanish, in light of four factors.     Sammanfattning : In this thesis, an investigation of past tense conjugation of weak verbs in traditional Jutland dialects is undertaken. The past tense endings in focus are those which do not correspond with the -ede-ending or the -te-ending known from Standard Danish, but which correspond with the endings -de, -the, -(d)de known from Medieval Danish.     Sammanfattning : Mbugwe is an endangered Bantu language spoken in north central Tanzania. This PhD dissertation is a description of the Mbugwe language with a focus on tone and verbal morphology, based on the author’s fieldwork. This is the first detailed description of the language.
