  1. 1. The genetic background of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Anastasia Papadopoulou; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gestational diabetes mellitus; HLA; TCF7L2; PTPN22; Post partum diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes; Islet Cell Autoantibodies;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work is to better determine the genetic background of gestational diabetes (GDM) and to examine how specific genes affect the development of diabetes post partum. In the DiPiS (Diabetes Prediction in Skåne) study we typed for HLA-DQB1 alleled, the transcription factor 7-like 2(TCF7L2) rs7903146, rs12255372 and rs7901695 SNPs, the 1858 C>T SNP of the protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor 22 (PTPN22) gene and we tested for the presence of islet cell autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2) and insulin in women who had been diagnosed with GDM at least once during 2000-2004. 2. 2. The paramagnetic Meissner effect

    Författare :Evie Papadopoulou; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; high-temperature superconductivity; Bi-based compounds; paramagnetic Meissner effect; ageing; disordered magnets; chiral-glass; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The low field dynamics of some high temperature superconductors have been studied experimentally, using SQUID magnetometry. The research has been focused on the so called Paramagnetic Meissner Effect (PME), a phenomenon seen in some high temperature superconducting cuprates. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Opening Pandora's Box : Exploring Flexibilities and Alternatives for Protecting Traditional Knowledge and Genetic Resources under the Intellectual Property Framework

    Författare :Frantzeska Papadopoulou; Marianne Levin; Jens Schovsbo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Traditional knowledge; genetic resources; intellectual property; biodiversity; Rawls; Coase; benefit sharing; patents; Convention on Biological Diversity; TRIPS; bioprospecting; property rights; liability; reward system; Commons; ITPGRFA; Calabresi Melamed; UPOV; FAO; Private Law; civilrätt;

    Sammanfattning : What happens when resources get valuable and scarce? How is Intellectual Property dealing with market failures related to sub-patentable innovation or purely traditional knowledge with interesting applications? The protection of traditional knowledge and genetic resources (TKGR) has been one of the major modern challenges in international IP law. The entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its implementation in national legislation has created more questions than the ones it answered. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards a pre-verified EPD tool with simulation capabilities for the aggregates industry

    Författare :Panagiota Papadopoulou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EPD; pre-verified EPD tool; aggregates; process simulations; crushing plants; Plantsmith; LCA;

    Sammanfattning : Aggregates are an indispensable component in the development of societies as they are the basic materials for most buildings and infrastructure projects. Therefore, understanding and taking actions regarding their environmental impact is necessary for the industry’s sustainable development and climate neutrality. LÄS MER

  5. 5. FGFs and Wnts in pancreatic growth and β-cell function

    Författare :Stella Papadopoulou; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Wnt; FGF; pancreas; Notch; signal transduction; development; proliferation; progenitors; β-cells; feedback; GSIS; diabetes; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mesenchymal-epithelial interactions are pivotal for proper pancreatic growth and development. The pancreatic progenitor cells present in the early pancreatic anlagen proliferate and eventually give rise to all pancreatic cell types. LÄS MER
