    Sammanfattning : The mouse pancreas is a mixed exocrine and endocrine glandconsisting of three lobular compartments: the splenic, duodenal and gastric lobes. During embryogenesis, the pancreas forms from two progenitor populations located on the dorsal and ventral side of the primitive gut tube. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immunopathology of the Pancreas in Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Anna Wiberg; Olle Korsgren; Oskar Skog; Åke Lernmark; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) results from a loss of functional insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. The etiology of T1D is poorly understood, but the detection of infiltrating inflammatory cells in the pancreas and circulating autoantibodies has led to the common notion that an autoimmune process plays a central role in the pathogenesis of the disease. 3. 3. Rho-GTPases in Morphogenesis and Differentiation of the Developing Pancreas

    Författare :Thomas Greiner; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin; diabetes; beta cell; cell adhesion; migration; delamination; morphogenesis; tubulogenesis; pancreas; Cdc42; Rho-GTPase; Rac1;

    Sammanfattning : Branched tubular networks constitute the basic structure of many organs to increase surface area and to transport fluids and gases. Glandular organs such as the pancreas arise from multilayered epithelium, which undergoes de novo lumen formation and extensive remodeling and branching. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies of the Pancreas: Implications for Type 1 Diabetes Aetiology

    Författare :Peter Seiron; Oskar Skog; Michele Solimena; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pancreas; Type 1 Diabetes; Insulitis; Beta cells; Immunology; Tissue resident memory T cells; Islets of Langerhans; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a disease of severe insulin deficiency through loss of β cells in the endocrine pancreas. The T1D dogma maintains that a precipitating event unleashes autoimmunity in at-risk individuals, often measured through autoantibodies against β cell antigens. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Localization of lipoprotein lipase in mouse pancreas, kidney and placenta : impact of metabolic disturbances on cellular distribution and activity regulation

    Författare :Rakel Nyrén; Gunilla Olivecrona; Paolo Parini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lipoprotein lipase; pancreas; kidney; placenta; angiopoietin-like protein 4; high-fat diet; obesity; mice; PET CT; nutritional status; triglyceride; GPIHBP1; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the key enzyme for metabolism of triglycerides in plasma lipoproteins. In recent years many new facts about the enzyme and its regulation have been uncovered. The endothelial membrane protein GPIHBP1 translocates LPL through endothelial cells and holds the enzyme in place at the luminal side of the capillary endothelium. LÄS MER
