The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Malmö has been a regional centre in southern Sweden for the treatment of patients with CLP since 1954 with about 40 new cases of clefts each year. Sammanfattning : Objective: The overall aim of this thesis was to collect longitudinal information about hearing thresholds and complications due to otitis media with effusion (OME) in children with cleft palate. Since OME is highly prevalent in children with cleft palate, many authors have hypothesized that the hearing loss associated to OME contributes to the delayed development of early speech and language often seen in these children. 10. CLEFT LIP AND PALATE IN ADOLESCENCE IDENTIFYING VARIABLES RELATING TO PSYCHOSOCIAL CONCERNS
Sammanfattning : In study I, 55 adolescents with cleft lip and palate and 31 adolescents without cleft filled out two questionnaires: the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale to assess self-concept, and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Inventory to assess the degree of introversion. In studies II & III, data regarding physical characteristic and general intellectual capacity were obtained from the Swedish National Service Enrolment Register for the years 1991-97. LÄS MER
