  1. 21. Water resources in Iceland - Impacts of climate variability and climate change

    Författare :Jona Finndis Jonsdottir; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; marklära; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; geomorphology; runoff map; projection of future runoff; Environmental studies; Miljöstudier; Physical geography; hydrological modelling; trends; climate change; climate variability; Iceland; water resources; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; kartografi; klimatologi; Civil engineering; hydraulic engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Hydropower is the main source of electricity production in Iceland. In 2005, 80.8% of all electricity was generated by hydropower (7015 GWh). Hydropower production is affected both by variations and changes in discharge. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Biomechanics of back extension torque production about the lumbar spine

    Författare :Karl Daggfeldt; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicin Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to develop a realistic mechanical description of lumbar back extension torque production. Such a description is desirable for understanding how back extension torque is generated as well as how the spine and surrounding structures are loaded during back extension tasks. LÄS MER

  3. 23. A Methodology to Control the Microstructure of Plasma Sprayed Coatings

    Författare :Martin Friis; Materialteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; materialteknik; Materiallära; Process map; Plasma spraying; process window; Thermal Barrier Coating; Zirconia; DPV2000; particle temperature; Material technology; particle velocity;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to enhance the overall understanding of the plasma spray process and increase control and reproducibility of the coating properties. This was performed by establishment of relationships between controllable process parameters, in-flight properties of the injected particles (velocity and temperature), and microstructure properties. 4. 24. Evolution of Yeast Respiro-Fermentative Lifestyle and the Underlying Mechanisms Behind Aerobic Fermentation

    Författare :Arne Hagman; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Crabtree effect; aerobic fermentation; respiro-fermentation; ethanol production; yeast; central carbon metabolism; evolution of alternative lifestyles;

    Sammanfattning : Under aerobic conditions, most yeasts such as Kluyveromyces lactis, prefer the respiratory pathway and some, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae prefer less energy efficient fermentative pathway for their energy metabolism. These two metabolic strategies are also known as Crabtree negative and Crabtree positive respectively, and the evolution of the latter has lately been explained by the “make-accumulate-consume” life strategy. 5. 25. Patient and public involvement in hospital quality improvement interventions : the mechanisms, monitoring and management

    Författare :Carolina Bergerum; Maria Wolmesjö; Johan Thor; Christina Petersson; Christine Kumlien; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clinical microsystem; co-production; hospital organisation; improvement science; patient and public involvement; programme theory; public service operations management; quality improvement; service-dominant logic; Health Care Service and Management; Health Policy and Services and Health Economy; Hälso- och sjukvårdsorganisation; hälsopolitik och hälsoekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on the mechanisms, monitoring and management of patient and public involvement in hospital quality improvement (QI) interventions. Findings from a literature review generated an initial programme theory (PT) on active patient involvement in healthcare QI interventions (Paper 1). LÄS MER
