    Sammanfattning : This dissertation has investigated the social vulnerability of unmarried mothers in three rural court districts in the province of Ångermanland in northern Sweden during the period 1860–1940. The main focus is on the consequences that the birth of one or more illegitimate children had on the women’s lives as regards to how they were treated in the local community, including by both neighbours and formal institutions.     Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates the treatment of eclampsia in Sweden at the turn of the 20th century, paying particular attention to two treatments, the “Active treatment” and “Stroganoff’s treatment”. The aim is to investigate the evolving medicalization of eclampsia in Sweden by analyzing the interdisciplinary discussion on eclampsia in the Swedish medical journals. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim of this dissertation, Rhetoric and Practice: A Study of the Handicraft Society of Gestrikland 1912-1930, has been to investigate how the rhetoric of the Society – in its early years, as well in the subsequent writings which relate the Society’s history – compares to its actual practices, and to undertake a critical review of the meaning and practical application of the Society’s official slogans. One area of focus is the way Gestrikland’s Handicraft society employed the motto of “helping people to help themselves” – the idea, that is to say, of generating income for the poor. LÄS MER
