21. Regulation of the cytoskeleton and the adhesiveness of intestinal epithelial cells by leukotriene D4
Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes belong to a family of biologically active conjugated trienes that are formed from arachidonic acid via the 5-lipoxygenase pathway and are important mediators of inflammatory reactions. The CysLT1 receptor that specifically serves as receptor for leukotriene D4 (LTD4) has been identified as a G-protein coupled receptor. LÄS MER
22. Isoform-specific regulation of Drosophila gut immunity and regeneration by the POU/Oct transcription factor Nub/Pdm1
Sammanfattning : Innate immune reactions protect organisms against a variety of infections. In metazoans, these reactions involve both cellular and humoral responses. The immune responses have to be well-tuned, as excessive immune activation is associated with tissue-specific pathologies. LÄS MER
23. In vitro studies on intestinal epithelial cell proliferation : effects of cytokines, Helicobacter pylori, serotonin and neuroendocrine peptides
Sammanfattning : Previous studies suggest that bacteria and bacterial metabolites, proinflammatory cytokines, neuroendocrine peptides and amines may participate in the regulation of the gastrointestinal-epithelial cell kinetics. The complexity of interactions that take place in vivo makes it difficult to define the primary actions of these and other agents on gastrointestinal cell proliferation. LÄS MER
24. Pancreatic cancer : investigation of the prognostic significance of tumor immunophenotype and establishment of a novel ex-vivo tissue slice culture system for drug sensitivity testing
Sammanfattning : Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), commonly referred to as pancreatic cancer, is associated with a dismal 5-year overall survival of 9 to 6 %. A major reason for the high mortality is the pronounced resistance to treatment. LÄS MER
25. Functional role of a constitutively active dioxin/Ah receptor in a transgenic mouse model
Sammanfattning : The dioxin/ Aryl hydrocarbon receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates most (if not all) of the toxic effects of the group of highly potent environmental pollutants collectively called dioxins and PCBs, including the highly toxic compound 2,3,7,8tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). The toxic effects include immune suppression, endocrine disruption, impaired reproduction and carcinogenesis. LÄS MER
