  1. 1. Open-framework Structures Built by Inorganic Clusters : Synthesis and Characterization

    Författare :Hong Chen; Junliang Sun; Xiaodong Zou; Thomas E Albrecht-Schmitt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Open-framework; germanates; vanadoborates; aluminoborates; germanosilicates; crystal structure; hydrothermal synthesis; crystal X-ray diffraction; rotation electron diffraction; powder X-ray diffraction; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Novel open-framework germanates and vanadoborates, which are constructed from typical types of clusters, have been synthesized based on different strategies. The crystal structures are solved by using single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) technique or by combined techniques. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modeling of inorganic ions in aqueous solution

    Författare :Vidar Aspelin; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molekylsimulering; statistisk mekanik; termodynamik; oorganiska joner; vattenlösningar; Kirkwood-Buff-teori; beräkningar av fri energi; molecular simulation; statistical mechanics; thermodynamics; inorganic ions; aqueous solutions; Kirkwood-Buff theory; free energy calculations;

    Sammanfattning : Essentially all chemical processes and reactions occurring in the environment take place in the presence of ions. In water, ions set the conditions for how other dissolved particles interact. Ions are also directly involved in chemical reactions affecting the climate such as ozone depletion. LÄS MER

  3. 3. "Chemical scissors" - a shortcut to the low-dimensional world

    Författare :Zuzana Hugonin; Sven Lidin; P. Shiv Halasyamani; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lone-pair of electrons; Low-dimensional compounds; Antimony oxo-halides; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : A number of oxo-halide compounds have been prepared and studied. The antimony Sb3+ cation shows great flexibility in adopting coordination numbers of three or four, and, since this ion carries a stereochemically active lone-pair of electrons (E), both coordinations are one-sided. 4. 4. Phase transformation and surface chemistry of secondary iron minerals formed from acid mine drainage

    Författare :Jörgen Jönsson; Lars Lövgren; Per Persson; Staffan Sjöberg; Douglas B Kent; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; schwertmannite; goethite; lepidocrocite; acid mine drainage; sulphate; natural organic matter; mineral surface; infrared spectroscopy; EXAFS; XRD; ternary surface complex; copper II ; cadmium II ; lead II ; zinc II ; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The mining of sulphidic ore to extract metals such as zinc and copper produces huge quantities of waste material. The weathering and oxidation of the waste produces what is commonly known as Acid Mine Drainage (AMD), a dilute sulphuric acid rich in Fe(II) and heavy metals. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chemical Processes at the Water-Manganite (γ-MnOOH) Interface

    Författare :Madeleine Ramstedt; Staffan Sjöberg; Per Persson; Lars Lövgren; Steven A. Banwart; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; manganite; γ-MnOOH; mineral surface; acid-base properties; adsorption; Cd II ; N- phosphonomethyl glycine; glyphosate; PMG; surface complex; dissolution; disproportionation; XPS; EXAFS; infrared spectroscopy; SEM; AFM; potentiometry; electrophoresis; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The chemistry of mineral surfaces is of great importance in many different areas including natural processes occurring in oceans, rivers, lakes and soils. Manganese (hydr)oxides are one important group to these natural processes, and the thermodynamically most stable trivalent manganese (hydr)oxide, manganit (γ-MnOOH), is studied in this thesis. LÄS MER
