  1. 21. Plant community assembly and biodiversity: a spatio-temporal perspective

    Författare :Oliver Purschke; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phylogenetic diversity; null model; life-history traits; land use history; landscape fragmentation; dispersal; functional diversity; semi-natural grasslands;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity, the variety of life at all organisational levels from genes to ecosystems, affects ecosystem processes and therefore the goods and services ecosystems provide. More research is needed to provide new insights into biodiversity changes and the processes that drive these changes, in order to formulate effective policy and conservation measures to stop the ongoing biodiversity loss. 2. 22. Design of Functional Structures and Measurement Techniques for Electromagnetic Waves

    Författare :Johan Lundgren; Teoretisk elektroteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; functional structures; frequency selective structures; polarization selectivity; metasurface; near-field measurements; antenna measurements; scattering measurement; power density; random media;

    Sammanfattning : Electromagnetic fields exist all around us. Through evolution, nature has developed tools to interact and use these fields, where our eyes are a spectacular example. Humans have a long history of developing structures and objects of their own to alter and interact with these fields. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 4. 24. Reactive Objects and Functional Programming

    Författare :Johan Nordlander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The construction of robust distributed and interactive software is still a challenging task, despite the recent popularity-increase for languages that take advanced programming concepts into the mainstream. Several problematic areas can be identified: most languages require the reactivity of a system to be manually upheld by careful avoidance of blocking operations; mathematical values often need to be encoded in terms of stateful objects or vice versa; concurrency is particularly tricky in conjunction with encapsulated software components; and static type safety is often compromised because of the lack of simultaneous support for both subtyping and polymorphism. 5. 25. Transcendental idealism and the organism : essays on Kant

    Författare :Marcel Quarfood; Dugald Murdoch; Camilla Serck-Hanssen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Kant; things in themselves; transcendental idealism; perspective; intelligible world; epigenesis; biological functions; teleology; organism; antinomy; regulative maxim; discursivity; acquisitio originaria; Philosophy subjects; Filosofiämnen;

    Sammanfattning : The notion of the organism has a somewhat ambiguous status in Kant’s philosophy. On the one hand it belongs to natural science, on the other hand it is based on an analogy with the structure of reason. Biology therefore has a peculiar place among the sciences according to Kant: it is a natural science constituted by the use of a regulative maxim. LÄS MER
