1. Studies of human dendritic cells in the skin after antigen exposure
Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DCs) act at the interface of innate and adaptive immunity. They are capable of inducing strong effector immune responses to invading pathogens, but also exert important functions in the maintenance of tolerance. LÄS MER
2. Three-Dimensional Modelling of Bond in Reinforced Concrete Theoretical Model, Experiments and Applications
Sammanfattning : The bond mechanism between deformed bars and concrete is known to be influenced by multiple parameters, such as the strength of the surrounding structure, the occurrence of splitting cracks in the concrete and the yielding of the reinforcement. However, when reinforced concrete structures are analysed using the finite element method, it is quite common to assume that the bond stress depends solely on the slip. LÄS MER
3. Functional and Modular As=C and P=C Group Motifs
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 4. Single-photon multiple ionisation of atoms and molecules investigated by coincidence spectroscopy : Site-specific effects in acetaldehyde and carbon dioxide
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, multiple ionisation processes of free atoms and molecules upon single photon absorption are studied by means of a versatile multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy method based on a magnetic bottle, primarily in combination with synchrotron radiation. The latter offered the possibility to access not only valence but also core levels, revealing processes, which promote the target systems into different charge states. LÄS MER
5. First-principles study of the multiple He trapping in defects in vanadium and SiC
Sammanfattning : In fusion environment, large amount of helium (He) atoms are produced by transmutation along with structural damage in the structural materials, causing materials swelling and degrading of physical properties. In this thesis, using first-principles method, I examined the microscopic mechanism of He trapping in vacancies and voids in structural materials (vanadium solid and 6H–SiC composites). LÄS MER
