21. Hydrophobic interactions of serpins
Sammanfattning : The proteins of the serpin family are primarily but not exclusively proteinase inhibitors, which share a common, similar structure. It is known that this structure undergoes major conformational changes upon cleavage in the serpin reactive site loop, and that these changes include rearrangements within the hydrophobic core of the molecule. 22. Theoretical aspects of tetrapyrrole biochemistry
Sammanfattning : Modern theoretical simulations are able to provide significant insight into biochemical problems on a scale which continues to expand. With the aid of computer power and the sophisticated programs of researchers in the field, we have addressed a series of problems related to the so-called tetrapyrrole cofactors found in all living organisms. 23. NMR Studies of Bacterial Albumin-Binding Modules
Sammanfattning : Peptostreptococcus magnus and group C/G streptococci are Gram-positive cocci that are part of the normal flora and reside in more or less the same locations in the host. Protein G of group C/G streptococci was originally described as binding IgGFc of several species and later shown to also bind human serum albumin and albumins from various animal species. LÄS MER
24. Protein-Polymer Interaction and Association in Aqueous Solution
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to study protein-polymer interaction and association. Two different techniques were used; Monte Carlo simulations were combined with partitioning in polymeric aqueous two-phase systems. Monte Carlo simulations have been used to evaluate the hydrophobic interaction in electrolyte solution. LÄS MER
25. Integration of Aqueous Two-Phase Systems into Recovery Processes for Biomolecules
Sammanfattning : The main scope of this thesis has been to study and develop new purification methods and also to further develop existing methods for purification to enhance their efficacy. Important parameters in the development of the methods are that they should be suitable for scale-up and possible to be integrated into recovery processes. LÄS MER
