  1. 1. Social causality in motion : Visual bias and categorization of social interactions during the observation of chasing in infancy

    Författare :Martyna A. Galazka; Pär Nyström; Gustaf Gredebäck; Moritz Daum; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social causality; motion; animacy perception; chasing goal-directed motion; heat-seeking; EEG; P400; Nc; spatial proximity; non-contact causality; functional specialization; specialized perception; evolution; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Since the seminal work of Fritz Heider and Marienne Simmel (1944) the study of animacy perception, or the perception and attribution of life from the motion of simple geometrical shapes has intrigued researchers. The intrigue for psychologists and vision scientists then and today centered on the stark disconnect between the simplicity of the visual input and the universal richness of the resulting percept. 2. 2. Barn i rörelse : Om förutsättningar för utveckling i alternativa (?) idrottsaktiviteter

    Författare :Johan Högman; Christian Augustsson; Pernilla Hedström; Annica Löfdahl; Johan Norberg; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; alternative sports programs; physical activity; children; development; bioecological theory; alternativa idrottsaktiviteter; fysisk aktivitet; rörelse; barn; utveckling; bioekologisk teori; Pedagogiskt arbete; Educational Work;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this doctoral dissertation is programs and interventions aiming to increase the proportion of children that is physically active. These efforts are called alternative sports activities as their ambition is to offer alternative developmental paths that may complement the traditional sporting environments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. From Motion to Movements : Revelations by the Infant EEG

    Författare :Pär Nyström; Claes von Hofsten; Riitta Hari; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Psychology; infant; brain; EEG; mirror neurons; ERP; ICA; MNS; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The introduction of high density EEG (hd-EEG) nets for easy application on subjects of all ages has improved the possibilities to investigate the development of the infant neurophysiology. This dissertation consists of three studies (I – III) that investigate the visual motion system and mirror neuron system of the infant, and methodological sections that outline the bioelectrical background and the characteristics of the methods used. 4. 4. Atomic transport in optical lattices

    Författare :Henning Hagman; Claude Dion; Daniel Comparat; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ultra-cold atoms; optical lattice; laser cooling; directed transport; Brownian motor; Brownian motion;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis includes both experimental and theoretical investigations of fluctuation-induced transport phenomena, presented in a series of nine papers, by studies of the dynamics of cold atoms in dissipative optical lattices. With standard laser cooling techniques about 108 cesium atoms are accumulated, cooled to a few μK, and transferred into a dissipative optical lattice. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Free Ensemble Improvisation

    Författare :Harald Stenström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; aleatorics; artistic research; attractor state; central tone; chaotic systems; collective understanding; comprovisation; conceptual model; directed motion; ensemble size; feedback and feedforward; free ensemble improvisation; gesture; importance of rhythm; indeterminacy; interactional skill; listening skill; musical evaluation; musical interaction; musical maturity; musical chemistry; musical interpretation; musical composition; non-idiomatic improvisation; rhythmic flow; sound properties; stylistic influences;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral project has been to study so-called non-idiomatic improvisation in ensembles consisting of two or three musicians who play together without any restrictions regarding style or genre and without having predetermined what is to be played or how they should play. The background to this thesis has been the author’s own free improvising, which he has pursued since 1974, and the questions that have arisen whilst music-making. LÄS MER
