  1. 1. Cardiovascular and metabolic control in obese children and adolescents

    Författare :Frida Dangardt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :obesity; children; atherosclerosis; omega-3 fatty acids; ultrasound; insulin;

  2. 2. Effects of Vagus Nerve Stimulation and Ketogenic Diet on Quality of Life and Changes in EEG and Sleep

    Författare :Tove Hallböök; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vagus nerve stimulation; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; behaviour; attention; ketogenic diet; delta power; slow wave sleep; REM; mood; sleep; quality of life; EEG; seizure frequency; spike detection; children; neurofysiologi; Pediatri; epilepsy; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : When anti-epileptic drugs fail, and epilepsy surgery is found unfeasible or ineffective, there remains a group of at least 25% of children with epilepsy in whom seizure control cannot be achieved. 3. 3. Assessment of chest physiotherapy in children

    Författare :Anna-Lena Lagerkvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :adolescent; airway disease; chest clapping; chest physiotherapy; child; cystic fibrosis; infant; mucus; multiple severe disabilities; non-cooperative; PEP; oscillating PEP; transcutaneous blood gas analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Chest physiotherapy (CPT) is used to improve the lung function and blood gas tensions in individuals with respiratory disease. The aim of this thesis was to assess and compare immediate effects of CPT with positive expiratory pressure (PEP) and oscillating PEP (OscPEP) on blood gas tensions in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF), to assess effects of CPT with PEP in severely disabled children, to describe and evaluate a new CPT method for children who cannot co-operate, and to compare obtained results with chest clapping. 4. 4. Pulse oximetry: Evaluation of a potential tool for early detection of critical congenital heart disease

    Författare :Anne de-Wahl Granelli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :pulse oximetry; duct-dependent; newborn screening; congenital heart disease; perfusion index;

    Sammanfattning : Background: About one third of newborns with life-threatening congenital heart disease leave newborn nurseries without the problem being recognized, and risk death or serious damage from circulatory collapse. The main aim of this thesis has been to evaluate if routine newborn screening with pulse oximetry could improve early in-hospital detection of newborns with duct-dependent circulation (DDC). LÄS MER

  5. 5. The value of informing Children prior to examination and procedures

    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pediatrik; omvårdnad; information; kunskap;

    Sammanfattning : The value of infoming children about impending medical procedures was investigated, particularly in ægard to possible effects on anxiety, fear, noncooperation and distress in specific clinical situations: urological investigation, heart catheterization, lumbar puncture, acute appendectomy. The use of a preparatory infonnation program was compared with conventional verbal infomation and pharmacological premedication. LÄS MER
