11. B cell repertoire development in normal physiology and autoimmune disease
Sammanfattning : The B cell repertoire in the neonatal immune system (IS) is characterised by reactivity towards self-components, including other immunoglobulin (Ig) V-regions. These properties have been suggested to be a requirement for the development of a normal immune system. LÄS MER
12. Regulation of cytokine-induced nitric oxide production in insulin-producing cells
Sammanfattning : Cytokine-induced expression of the inducible form of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and production of nitric oxide (NO) may contribute to pancreatic β-cell damage during the development of type 1 diabetes. iNOS catalyses the conversion of arginine into citrulline and NO, a reaction regulated by the amount of expressed iNOS enzyme and by the cellular availability of arginine. 13. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor
Sammanfattning : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 14. Signalling pathways in renal cell carcinoma with a focus on telomerase regulation
Sammanfattning : Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein complex that catalyses telomeric repeat addition at the ends of chromosomes. The catalytic subunit, hTERT, acts as a key determinant for telomerase activity control; the induction of hTERT expression is required for telomerase activity. LÄS MER
15. Genomic adaptation and gene-dosage regulation of Drosophila melanogaster cells, and long-read software developments
Sammanfattning : Cells are the vehicles that allows genetic code to proliferate in the world, taking on various forms – as illustrated by the tree of life. The cell features are determined by the manufacturing of proteins, a process that has its blueprints encoded as genes in the genome. LÄS MER
