  1. 1. Metab-Immune analysis of the non-obese diabetic mouse

    Författare :Viqar Banday; Kristina Lejon; Åsa Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NOD mouse; Type 1 diabetes; B cells; glutamic acid; metabolomics; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1A diabetes mellitus or T1D is a chronic disease characterized by T cell mediated destruction of the insulin producing β cells in the islets of Langerhans. The classical symptoms include high glucose levels in urine and blood, polyuria, and polydipsia. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cellular and genetic components in the development of IDDM in NOD mice

    Författare :Kristina Lejon; Dan Holmberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-obese diabetic; IgVh gene utilisation; immunoregulation; programmed cell death; genetic linkage analysis; immunologi; Immunology;

  3. 3. Molecular and cellular mechanisms in the development of IDDM in non-obese diabetic mice

    Författare :Cecilia Rietz; Inger Lundkvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is a disease caused by autoimmune destruction of the insulin producing b cells in the pancreas. The leukocytic infiltration into the b cell islets preceding disease is called insulitis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. B cell repertoire development in normal physiology and autoimmune disease

    Författare :Åsa Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B cell repertoire; connectivity; natural antibodies; non-obese diabetic NOD ; Ig therapy; Vh7183 gene family;

    Sammanfattning : The B cell repertoire in the neonatal immune system (IS) is characterised by reactivity towards self-components, including other immunoglobulin (Ig) V-regions. These properties have been suggested to be a requirement for the development of a normal immune system. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aspects of the glomerular barrier in healthy and diabetic kidneys

    Författare :Marie Jeansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :glomerular size and charge selectivity; isolated perfused kidney; electron microscopy; glycocalyx; diabetic nephropathy; NOD mice;

    Sammanfattning : Each day 180 liters of plasma is filtered in the kidneys. Under normal conditions, the glomerular barrier restricts the passage of macromolecules such as albumin while it is highly permeable to water and small solutes. Proteinuria is a hallmark of renal disease and reflects impairment of the glomerular barrier. LÄS MER
