1. Cerebral arterial pulsatility imaging using 4D flow MRI : methodological development and applications in brain aging
Sammanfattning : 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly recognizedas a versatile tool to assess arterial and venous hemodynamics. Cerebral arterial pulsatility is typically assessed by analyzing flow waveforms over the cardiac cycle, where flow amplitude is a function of cardiac output, central arterial stiffness, and cerebrovascular resistance and compliance. 2. Laser Doppler Perfusion Monitoring and Imaging especially as regards testing for sympathetic nerve function
Sammanfattning : The operating principle of all laser Doppler methods is based on the fact that incident photons shift in wavelength when interacting with moving blood cells passing through the microvascular network. After photodetection and further signal processing, the recorded parameter can be considered an arbitrary measure of tissue blood flow, and this is referred to as ?perfusion?. LÄS MER
3. Response of human skeletal muscle to chronic and acute exercise and ischemia : muscle dimensions, tissue water and blood flow as measured by magnetic resonance imaging and comparative methods
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate the response of human skeletal muscle to exercise, training and ischemi and to evaluate if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could be used to measure regional muscle cross-sectional area, muscle perfusion and detect muscle ischemia in patients with intermittent claudication. For this purpose studies were performed on 29 healthy young volunteers and 7 patients with intermittent claudication. LÄS MER
4. Studies on antioxidant and lipid lowering effects on human microcirculation
Sammanfattning : In previous work from this laboratory, vital microscopy was successfully used to study rnicrocirculatcry effects of hypercholesterolemia in a rabbit model. Hypercholesterolemia caused a dramatic depression of the blood flow velocity in the conjunctiva microvessels of the rabbits. LÄS MER
5. Maternal renal artery Doppler velocimetry in normal and hypertensive pregnancies
Sammanfattning : Background: The measurement of effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) by calculation of p-aminohippurate (PAH) clearance is an invasive, time-consuming procedure. In nonpregnant humans, the clearance of isotopes can be used to measure renal plasma flow, but the use of these radioactive substances during pregnancy is unsuitable. LÄS MER
