1. Polyurethane - occupational exposure, biomarkers and symptoms
Sammanfattning : Isocyanates may cause occupational asthma, rhinitis, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. However, the mechanisms behind initiation of the disorders and the relations between exposure and effect are insufficiently elucidated. Means to biomonitor exposure and risk would be valuable. 2. Water and Carbon Balance Modeling: Methods of Uncertainty Analysis
Sammanfattning : How do additional data of the same and/or different type contribute to reducing model parameter and predictive uncertainties? This was the question addressed with two models – the HBV hydrological water balance model and the ICBM soil carbon balance model – that were used to investigate the usefulness of the Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) method for calibrations and uncertainty analyses. The GLUE method is based on threshold screening of Monte Carlo simulations using so-called informal likelihood measures and subjective acceptance criterion. LÄS MER
3. Modeling the Seasonality of Carbon, Evapotranspiration and Heat Processes for Cold Climate Conditions
Sammanfattning : The productivity of agricultural and forest ecosystems in regions at higher latitudes is to a large extent governed by low temperature and moisture conditions. Environmental conditions are acting both above- and below-ground and regulating carbon fluxes and evapotranspiration. LÄS MER
4. Hydrological and sediment yield modelling in Lake Tana Basin, Blue Nile Ethiopia
Sammanfattning : Land and water resources degradation are the major problems on the Ethiopian highlands. Poor land use practices and improper management systems have played a significant role in causing high soil erosion rates, sediment transport and loss of agricultural nutrients. So far limited meas-ures have been taken to combat the problems. LÄS MER
5. Connections for Timber-Framed Structures - Assembly Properties and Structural Behaviour
Sammanfattning : By tradition, the design and development of connections has focused on the optimization of strength and stiffness. The subject of this thesis is the interaction between the assembly and structural properties of connections for timber-framed structures. LÄS MER
