  1. 1. Automated Assessment of Blood Flow in the Cardiovascular System Using 4D Flow MRI

    Författare :Mariana Bustamante; Tino Ebbers; Carljohan Carlhäll; Petter Dyverfeldt; Michael Markl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MRI; 4D Flow MRI; Image Analysis; Segmentation;

    Sammanfattning : Medical image analysis focuses on the extraction of meaningful information from medical images in order to facilitate clinical assessment, diagnostics and treatment. Image processing techniques have gradually become an essential part of the modern health care system, a consequence of the continuous technological improvements and the availability of a variety of medical imaging techniques. 2. 2. Blood flow assessment in cerebral arteries with 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging : an automatic atlas-based approach

    Författare :Tora Dunås; Anders Eklund; Anders Wåhlin; Jan Malm; Einar Heiberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Circle of Willis; 4D flow MRI; Cerebral arteries; Vascular disease; Stroke; Automatic labeling; Probabilistic atlas; Cerebral blood flow; Neuroimaging; Magnetic Resonance Imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Disturbed blood flow to the brain has been associated with several neurological diseases, from stroke and vascular diseases to Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline. To determine the cerebral arterial blood flow distribution, measurements are needed in both distal and proximal arteries. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Volumetric MRI measurements of velocity and flow - Accuracy, visualisation and technical improvements

    Författare :Anders Nilsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; 4D flow; phase contrast MRI; velocity mapping;

    Sammanfattning : In the last two decades, phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) has evolved from two-dimensional velocity and flow measurements to volumetric, time-resolved depictions of velocity fields (4D PC). The acquisition of time-resolved velocity fields allows flow visualisations that might provide better understanding of the dynamics of the cardiac system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Quantification of 4D Left Ventricular Blood Flow in Health and Disease

    Författare :Jonatan Eriksson; Tino Ebbers; Carl-Johan Carlhäll; Gianni Pedrizzetti; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MRI; relative pressure; 4D flow; quantification; turbulent kinetic energy; dilated cardiomyopathy; magnetic resonance imaging; physiology; cardiac function; diastolic dysfunction;

    Sammanfattning : The main function of the heart is to pump blood throughout the cardiovascular system by generating pressure differences created through volume changes. Although the main purpose of the heart and vessels is to lead the flowing blood throughout the body, clinical assessments of cardiac function are usually based on morphology, approximating the flow features by viewing the motion of the myocardium and vessels. 5. 5. 4D flow MRI and modelling to assess cerebral arterial hemodynamics : method development and evaluation, with implementation in patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis

    Författare :Madelene Holmgren; Anders Eklund; Jan Malm; Anders Wåhlin; Sara Qvarlander; Ronnie Wirestam; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 4D flow MRI; carotid stenosis; cerebral blood flow; cerebral arterial compliance; cerebrovascular resistance; circleof Willis; computational fluid dynamics; magnetic resonance imaging; stroke; vascular disease; Neurology; neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Blood flow measurements are important for understanding the development of cerebrovascular diseases. With 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (4D flow MRI), simultaneous velocity measurements are obtained in all cerebral arteries in a scan of about ten minutes. However, 4D flow MRI is a relatively new technique. LÄS MER
