    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber; fibre; fiber characteristics; fiber dimension; fiber properties; mechanical pulp; FiberLab; raw data; distribution; fiber wall thickness; BIN; bonding ability influence; bonding indicator; bonding ability; fiber width; fibrillation; collapse resistance; laboratory sheet; fiber analyzer; optical analyzer; TMP; CTMP; SGW; sheet model; prediction; fiber characterization; hydrocyclone; fractionation; kernel density estimation; KDE; diffusion mixing; acoustic emission; F0.90; Norway spruce; Picea abies;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanical pulps are used in paper products such as magazine or news grade printing papers or paperboard. Mechanical pulping gives a high yield; nearly everything in the tree except the bark is used in the paper. This means that mechanical pulping consumes much less wood than chemical pulping, especially to produce a unit area of printing surface. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Natural fiber composites : optimization of microstructure and processing parameters

    Författare :Birgitha Nyström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Natural fiber composites, (NFC) are defined in this work as a group of materials where at least the fibers originates from renewable and CO2 neutral resources. NFC consists of a polymer matrix and a natural fiber. The fibers which originate from wood or plants can replace non-renewable fibers or fillers or simply replace part of the plastic. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : One of the major challenges of today´s society is to find a sustainable way to create a living based on the resources on earth. It is a challenge that includes a transition from fossil-based materials to renewable/biodegradable raw materials and also the creation of an environmentally friendly circular material flow. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Bacterial adhesion to polyelectrolyte modified materials based on nanocellulose

    Författare :Jonatan Henschen; Lars Wågberg; Per Larsson; Josefin Larsson; Aji Mathew; Michael Malkoch; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bacterial adhesion; cellulose nanofibrils; polymer adsorption; polyvinylamine; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Since the introduction of materials based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs), these materials have been studied extensively and are suggested to be suitable for use in, for example, hygiene and health care products. A property not very well studied but that could further increase the usability of CNF products is the possibility of controlling bacterial adhesion to the materials. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Sweden is one of the largest countries by area in Europe, and almost 70% of it is covered by forest. These abundant forest resources benefit the Swedish bioeconomy, but the pulp and paper industry is facing the challenge of a decrease in the demand for printing paper due to a significant shift to electronic media; therefore, it is a priority to use pulp to produce alternative value-added products, such as thermal insulating materials in buildings.
