Sammanfattning : This thesis explores art education at the preschool and primary school levels. My primary concern has been to analyze art practices in different pedagogical settings; the major questions are:- How are art activities performed; what kind of mental tools do teachers offer and what kind of guidance do they provide?- How do teachers talk about art and art making in their art activities?- Is there a "poetic" or aesthetic dimension in preschool and primary school art activities?The analyses are based on micro-analyses of videotapes of all art activities at five preschools, five primary schools (second grade) and five. 7. Digitala speglar : föreställningar om lärarrollen och kön i lärarstudenters bilder
Sammanfattning : Syftet med avhandlingen är att undersöka visualiserade föreställningar om bildläraryrket vid Lärarutbildningen genom att analysera hur bildlärarstudenter i digital bild gestaltar sig som lärare, samt betydelser av kön i dessa bilder. Bilderna har analyserats diskursivt för att söka svar på frågorna: Vad är det i lärarrollen som kommer till uttryck i dessa bilder? Vilka betydelser av kön visualiseras? Vilka visuella grepp har bildmakarna använt? Hur kan man förstå de val studenterna gjort? Det empiriska materialet består av femtionio bilder, gjorda av fyrtiofem kvinnor och fjorton män. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : During the course of the twentieth century, a doubt emerged – first within visual arts, and later also within crafts – where the relevance of the traditional way of making art was addressed, as were thoughts on what was termed ‘empty shape’. The notion that shape in itself was no longer artistically valid is closely linked to notions of materiality as hindrance, and immateriality as freedom – all of which have had a major influence on contemporary visual arts and crafts, in general, and, more specifically, on what I term ‘theory-practice’ within the field of crafts. 9. Metaphor as a mode of interpretation : An essay on interactional and contextual sense-making processes, metaphorology, and verbal arts
Sammanfattning : This essay is an attempt to assess the oddity and importance of metaphor, both viewed as inseparable, internal aspects of the metaphorical sense-making activity. To outline the "challenge" of metaphor, arguments are made against the traditional approaches to metaphor, namely the idea that metaphor is a thing, an entity out there in the discourse or text, whose meaning is embedded within its discrete units and parts.
