  1. 16. Viral Strategies to Regulate Transcription and Pre-mRNA Splicing

    Författare :Shaoan Fan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Adenovirus E1B-55kDa; E4-ORF4; E4-ORF6 proteins; L1 mRNA; Polyoma virus small T antigen; regulation; transcription; splicing; PP2A; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : A typical DNA virus encodes for a few key regulatory proteins that modify the host cell biosynthetic machinery to achieve a selective viral gene statement. One such example is illustrated by the adenovirus E4-ORF4 protein, which form an enzymatically active complex with the serine and threonine-specific protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A). LÄS MER

    Författare :Anders Elowsson; Anders Friberg; Pawel Herman; Anders Askenfelt; Gerhard Widmer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Music Information Retrieval; MIR; Music; Music Transcription; Music Perception; Music Production; Tempo Estimation; Beat Tracking; Polyphonic Pitch Tracking; Polyphonic Transcription; Music Speed; Music Dynamics; Long-time average spectrum; LTAS; Algorithmic Composition; Deep Layered Learning; Convolutional Neural Networks; Rhythm Tracking; Ensemble Learning; Perceptual Features; Representation Learning;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents ten studies focusing on three important subfields of music information retrieval (MIR): music transcription (Part A), music perception (Part B), and music production (Part C).In Part A, systems capable of transcribing rhythm and polyphonic pitch are described. 3. 18. Chromatin remodelling of ribosomal genes - be bewitched by B-WICH

    Författare :Anna Vintermist; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Ross D. Hannan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromatin remodelling; ribosomal genes; rDNA; transcription; RNA polymerase I transcription; RNA polymerase III transcription; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transcription of the ribosomal genes accounts for the majority of transcription in the cell due to the constant high demand for ribosomes. The number of proteins synthesized correlates with an effective ribosomal biogenesis, which is regulated by cell growth and proliferation. LÄS MER

  4. 19. The interplay of transcription and chromatin regulation during embryonic development

    Författare :George Hunt; Mattias Mannervik; Eileen Furlong; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription; chromatin; chromatin-modifiers; p300 CBP; Polycomb repression; promoter proximal Pol II pausing; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : A fascinating aspect of multicellular development is the production of diverse cell types from an identical DNA genome, which depends on the ability to express different complements of genes across space and time. This thesis tries to address how the genome, within the chromatin structure that envelops it, is regulated to direct this complex process. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Deciphering the Alk signaling pathway in Drosophila

    Författare :Fredrik Hugosson; Ruth H. Palmer; Osamu Shimmi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; Alk; RTK; visceral mesoderm; signal transduction; growth factor; transcription factor; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : In Drosophila melanogaster the visceral mesoderm (VM) develops during embryogenesis in a process where myoblasts become specified to generate two distinct cell types, the founder cells (FCs) and the fusion competent myoblasts (FCMs) that consequently fuses. The cell specification is dependent on cell signaling mediated by the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (Alk) and its ligand Jelly belly (Jeb), how this further sets up different identity programs that drive myoblasts to differentiate into FCs and FCMs is still not well understood.
