  1. 1. Application of a New Logic to Old Drugs: Angiogenesis Inhibition in Neuroblastoma

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Åsa Svensson; Rolf Christofferson; Per Kogner; [2003]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; angiogenesis; neuroblastoma; CHS 828; digoxin; combination treatment; Cellbiologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is one of the most common solid cancers of early childhood. In Sweden, approximately 10-15 cases occur annually. The overall five-year neuroblastoma survival in Europe is approximately 45%. Since cancer treatment involves drugs with risks of side effects in the growing child, there is a need for more effective and less toxic drugs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Elongation factor 2: A key component of the translation machinery in eukaryotes : Properties of yeast elongation factor 2 studied in vivo

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Wenner-Grens institut för experimentell biologi

    Författare :Galyna Bartish; Odd Nygård; Suparna Sanyal; [2008]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elongation factor 2; yeast; ribosome; phosphorylation; Switch I; site-directed mutagenesis; functional complementation; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi; cellbiologi; Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Synthesis of proteins is performed by the ribosome, a large ribonucleoprotein complex. Apart from the ribosome, numerous protein factors participate in this process. Elongation factor 2 (eEF2) is one of these factors. eEF2 is an essential protein with a mol. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The ribosome, stringent factor and the bacterial stringent response

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Wenner-Grens institut för experimentell biologi

    Författare :Rose-Marie Jenvert; Lovisa Holmberg Schiavone; Suparna Sanyal; [2007]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribosome; stringent factor; stringent response; tRNA; ribosomal protein L11; pppGpp; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi; cellbiologi; Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The stringent response plays a significant role in the survival of bacteria during different environmental conditions. It is activated by the binding of stringent factor (SF) to stalled ribosomes that have an unacylated tRNA in the ribosomal A-site which leads to the synthesis of (p)ppGpp. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interaction Between Drosophila melanogaster mbn-2 Cells and Bacteria

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Karin Johansson; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Drosophila; innate immunity; bacteria; host - pathogen interaction; Cellbiologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Innate immunity relies on a repertoire of germline-encoded non-rearranging pattern recognition receptors that bind to invariant microbial surface molecules. This event initiates a number of signal transduction cascades that lead to humoral and cellular defense responses like synthesis of antimicrobial peptides, phagocytosis and coagulation – mechanisms that efficiently fight infectious microorganisms and have been evolutionary conserved to exist in parallel with the antibody-based adaptive immunity found in vertebrates. 5. 5. The Actin Filament System Its Involvement in Cell Migration and Neurotransmitter Release

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Författare :Anna-Karin Johnsson; Roger Karlsson; Stéphane Gasman; [2011]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Actin; Profilin; Synaptotagmin; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The microfilament system consists of actin filaments as the major component and is regulated by a number of actin binding proteins. It is juxtaposed to the plasma membrane where it forms a dense cortical weave from where it pervades into the cell interior. LÄS MER
