  1. 1. Early events in T cell development

    Författare :Karin Leandersson; Malmö Cancerimmunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; pTalpha; gammadelta T cell; alphabeta T cell; development; thymus; thymocyte; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : T cells constitute a heterogenous population of lymphocytes. Their unifying property is that they express surface bound antigen-receptors, called T cell receptors (TCRs). The TCR is a heterodimer composed of either TCRalpha and beta chain proteins (alphabeta TCR) or gamma and delta chain proteins (gammadelta TCR). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aspects of T cell development contributing to autoimmunity

    Författare :Maria Carlsén; Diabetes - immunovirologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FTOC; T cell development; Type 1 diabetes; p53; Insulin; NOD; Negative selection; TGF-β; Tolerance; Thymus; Conditional cre lox knock out; Autoimmunity;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmunity, such as type 1 diabetes (T1D), arises as a result of tolerance breakdown against host tissues, i.e. the β-cells. Central tolerance is established during thymic T cell development and defects in key events during this process could contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The MHC-glycopeptide-T cell interaction in collagen induced arthritis : a study using glycopeptides, isosteres and statistical molecular design in a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Lotta Holm; Jan Kihlberg; Morten Grötli; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; collagen; T-cell; class II MHC; solid phase peptide synthesis; glycopeptide; peptide isostere; PCA; statistical molecular design; PLS; QSAR; sequence binding motif; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease affecting approximately 1% of the population in the western world. It is characterised by a tissue specific attack of cartilage in peripheral joints. Collagen induced arthritis (CIA) is one of the most commonly used animal models for (RA), with similar symptoms and histopathology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Thymic Stroma and T Cell Development. Impacts of Retinoic Acid Signaling

    Författare :Kerstin Wendland; Slemhinnans immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Thymus; Thymic epithelial cells; Retinoic acid; T cell development; Stromal Cells;

    Sammanfattning : The development of functionally competent, self-tolerant T cells in the thymus is an essential prerequisite for the formation of adaptive immune responses against foreign pathogens. Thymic epithelial cells (TECs) form specialized stromal microenvironments in the cortex (cTEC) and medulla (mTEC) of the thymus that support all stages of T cell development, from the entry of thymocyte progenitors to the exit of mature naive T cells. 5. 5. Recognition requirements and regulatory events directing T cell responses

    Författare :Martin Gullberg; Eva-Lotta Larsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; T cell growth factor production; Lyt-2-positive T suppressor cell; Lyt-2-positive cytotoxic T lymphocytes; activation requirements of T lymphocytes; blocking of T cell functions;

    Sammanfattning : The present study has considered cellular and molecular requirements in T cell responses. The central role of T cell growth factors (TCGF) in T cell responses prompted us to study the regulatory events directing TCGF production in lectin stimulated cultures. LÄS MER
