21. Cytotoxic Cyclotides : Structure, Activity, and Mode of Action
Sammanfattning : Cyclotides are small cyclic plant proteins, and this thesis addresses their cytotoxic structure-activity properties and their mode of action on human cancer cell lines. Cyclotides were isolated from Viola odorata and Viola tricolor; three novel cyclotide sequences and two known sequences, but of new origin, were identified using mass spectrometry, amino acid analysis, and Edman degradation. Sammanfattning : Current risk assessments of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs)-contaminated soil are often based on the 16 priority PAHs and do not consider availability of PACs in soil sufficiently. Sammanfattning : Humans are exposed to chemical compounds in everyday life, both from the environment and from endogenous processes. Some compounds constitute a risk for cancer development. 25. Cardiovascular and metabolic effects of endothelins in man : an experimental and clinical study
Sammanfattning : Increased plasma concentrations of endothelin-1 (ET-1) and of its propeptide big endothelin-1 have been reported in diseases associated with endothelial dysfunction, cardiovascular remodelling and insulin resistance. In this thesis, we studied the hemodynamic effects of big ET-1 in healthy humans focusing on the mechanisms of the effects (study I-IV). LÄS MER
