1. Toward a tissue engineered blood vessel. Cell cultivation, hemodynamic influences and matrix production
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of mortality in the western world. Thereplacement or repair of diseased blood vessels with human autografts (vein or arteries) orsynthetic vascular grafts (ePTFE or Dacron) has become a routine treatment. Autologous graftsare not always available in all patients. LÄS MER
2. Maternal Hemodynamic Effects of Medical Gases and Uterotonics in Obstetrics
Sammanfattning : Aim of study: To elucidate the hemodynamic effects of pharmaceutical and medical interventions during pregnancy and childbirth on the mother.Introduction: Oxytocin, oxygen, and nitrous oxide are pharmaceuticals very commonly used in labor and delivery. These pharmaceuticals have known cardiovascular adverse effects. LÄS MER
3. In the hands of ohm : hemodynamic aspects in pulmonary hypertension
Sammanfattning : Congestive heart failure (CHF) is one of the most challenging diseases in terms of health care demand and mortality, in the western world. Despite major breakthroughs in the fields of diagnosis and treatment over the three last decades, the management of CHF still remains challenging. LÄS MER
4. Sleep disordered breathing and hemodynamic function
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the association between sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and hemodynamic function. A cross sectional study in a sleep laboratory cohort (n=1190) demonstrated a dose-response relationship between the severity of SDB, expressed as respiratory disturbance index (RDI), and office blood pressure, heart rate, and the risk of hypertension. 5. Hemodynamic aspects of biventricular pacing in heart failure
Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Biventricular pacing or cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is an established treatment option for selected heart failure (HF) patients. We aimed at evaluating acute and longer-term hemodynamic effects of different pacemaker programmings in CRT patients. LÄS MER
