  2. 2. Preproenkephalin Gene and mRNA : Studies of Structure, Function, Cocaine Responses in an Animal Model, and Genetic Association with Human Opiate Addiction

    Författare :Karl Steven LaForge; Fred Nyberg; Peter S. Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biological research on drug dependence; Neuropeptides; Endogenous opioid system; Drug addiction; Heroin; Cocaine; Gene expression; Genetic association; Biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological research on drug dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous opioid enkephalin neuropeptides are mediators of pain perception and have been implicated in human addictions. The preproenkephalin gene and its mRNA have also provided many examples of tissue- and species-specific variations in mRNA structure produced through a variety of transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms. 3. 3. Oral microbiota in relation to host traits, environment, and dental caries

    Författare :Linda Eriksson; Pernilla Lif Holgerson; Ingegerd Johansson; Anders Esberg; Peter Lingström; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Background: Dental caries still appears at high prevalence worldwide. Disease distribution is skewed with more disease in socio-economically weak groups. However, also in populations considered as “low caries” there is a significant fraction with continuous disease development. LÄS MER

  5. 5. In vivo properties of neural stem cells after transplantation into the rat brain-Studies of phenotypic differentiation and functional integration using cell-specific labelling and electrophysiological techniques

    Författare :Ulrica Englund Johansson; Peter Eriksson; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cell line; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; functional integration; electrophysiology; retrograde tracing; immortalized; GFP; migration; axonal projections; glia; neuron; transplantation; stem cell. progenitor cell; CNS; Biomedical Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, we have examined the in vivo properties of in vitro expanded human and rat neural stem-and progenitor cells after transplantation into the neonatal and adult rat brain. The survival and differentiation of the grafted cells were assessed using species-specific antisera, and pre-labelling with the reporter gene green fluorescent protein (GFP). LÄS MER
