  1. 1. Word Learning in the Developing Brain : ERP Dynamics of Learning Word-Object Associations

    Författare :Kristina Borgström; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Word Learning; Language development; EEG; ERP; N400;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigated electrophysiological measures of individual differences in toddlers’ ability to learn novel object labels and process familiar object words and their referents. The studies measured both visual and auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) in response to pictures of objects and words in a longitudinal sample of 20- to 24-month-olds, an age of dynamic vocabulary development. Sammanfattning : Specific language impairment (SLI) is commonly described as a condition where a child with otherwise normal development and hearing does not acquire language as expected. Children with SLI often have a family history of language disorders. The aetiology is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neural and behavioural mechanisms underlying the processing of negated meanings : Words, pictures and sentences

    Författare :Sara Farshchi; Kognition och Discourse@Lund (SKD@L) Språk; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; negation; scalar meanings; artificial language learning; EEG; ERP; semantic incongruities; N400; P600; sentence processing; auditory processing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis combines a number of methodologies and measures in order to address the processing of two types of negation (with not and un) in relation to each other and to non-negated affirmative meanings. The four investigations in this thesis target the processing of these meanings at different levels, namely the word level (Study 1) and sentence level (Studies 2–4). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Concreteness, Specificity and Emotional Content in Swedish Nouns : Neurocognitive Studies of Word Meaning

    Författare :Frida Blomberg; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; abstract; concrete; nouns; semantics; specificity; emotion; imageability; anomia; word ratings; EEG; ERP; N400; N700; dichotic listening; hemispheric lateralisation; lexical decision; Swedish; neurolinguistics; Lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis investigated Swedish nouns differing in concreteness, specificity and emotional content using linguistic, psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic methods. The focus of Paper I was a semantic analysis of discourse produced by a person with a lesion in visual (left occipital) cortex. LÄS MER
