  1. 1. Exploring Auditory Attention Using EEG

    Författare :Johanna Wilroth; Martin Enqvist; Emina Alickovic; Martin Skoglund; Thomas Schön; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Listeners with normal-hearing often overlook their ability to comprehend speech in noisy environments effortlessly. Our brain’s adeptness at identifying and amplifying attended voices while suppressing unwanted background noise, known as the cocktail party problem, has been extensively researched for decades. 2. 2. Perceptual and Squared Error Aspects in Speech and Audio Coding

    Författare :Harald Pobloth; Bastiaan Kleijn; Gernot Kubin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; speech coding; audio coding; auditory models; perceptual distortion measures; squared error; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : In the process of quantization, speech and audio signals are changed. This thesis contains four papers concerned with comparing and minimizing different measures to quantify the changes introduced. Before quantization the signal can be transformed to another domain. Transforms related to the discrete Fourier transform allow for e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A Sound Approach Toward a Mobility Aid for Blind and Low-Vision Individuals

    Författare :Johan Isaksson-Daun; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Audomni; Blindness; Electronic travel aids; Desire of Use; DoU-MoB; DoUQ-MoB; Low vision; Mobility aids; Parrot-VR; Paitient-reported outcome measures; Sonification; Sensory substitution; Sensory supplementation; Virtual environments; Virtual reality; Visual impairment; Audomni; Blindhet; Electronic travel aids; Desire of Use; DoU-MoB; DoUQ-MoB; Kraftig synnedsättning; Förflyttningshjälpmedel; Orienteringshjälpmedel; Parrot-VR; Patient-reported outcome measures; Sonification; Sensory substitution; Sensory supplementation; Virtual environments; Virtual reality; Synnedsättning;

    Sammanfattning : Reduced independent mobility of blind and low-vision individuals (BLVIs) cause considerable societal cost, burden on relatives, and reduced quality of life for the individuals, including increased anxiety, depression symptoms, need of assistance, risk of falls, and mortality. Despite the numerous electronic travel aids proposed since at least the 1940’s, along with ever-advancing technology, the mobility issues persist. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neural and behavioural mechanisms underlying the processing of negated meanings : Words, pictures and sentences

    Författare :Sara Farshchi; Kognition och Discourse@Lund (SKD@L) Språk; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; negation; scalar meanings; artificial language learning; EEG; ERP; semantic incongruities; N400; P600; sentence processing; auditory processing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis combines a number of methodologies and measures in order to address the processing of two types of negation (with not and un) in relation to each other and to non-negated affirmative meanings. The four investigations in this thesis target the processing of these meanings at different levels, namely the word level (Study 1) and sentence level (Studies 2–4). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Auditory Distraction in ADHD : From Behaviour to the Brain

    Författare :Rina Blomberg; Jerker Rönnberg; Henrik Danielsson; David Badre; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Auditory distraction; Cognitive control; Attention; Working memory; ADHD; Auditiv distraktion; Kognitiv kontroll; Uppmärksamhet; Arbetsminne; Adhd;

    Sammanfattning : ADHD is a heterogenous disorder encompassing neurodevelopmental deficits in cognitive control. Auditory distraction is a common clinically reported symptom in ADHD, yet empirical research investigating the manifestation of auditory distraction in the disorder is remarkably scarce. LÄS MER
