  1. 16. Exercising Mathematical Competence: Practising Representation Theory and Representing Mathematical Practice

    Författare :Anna Ida Säfström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Mathematical competence; exercising competencies; young children; whole number arithmetic; tertiary level; proving; highest weight representation; tensor product decomposition; skew-symmetric matrix; moment map; infinite dimensional unitary representation; highest weight representation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis assembles two papers in mathematics and two papers in mathematics education. In the mathematics part, representation theory is practised. Two Clebsch-Gordan type problems are addressed. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Pedagogic practice between tradition and renewal : A study of the new mathematics curriculum in Mozambique

    Författare :Balbina Mutemba; Candia Morgan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Education; Matematik och lärande;

    Sammanfattning : The new school mathematics curriculum in Mozambique, introduced in 2008, is partly competency-based and it advocates a more student-centred pedagogy. The most salient innovative features are the incorporation of mathematical competencies related to the development of students’ reasoning skills, including argumentation, justification and analytical thinking, and the use of heuristic or inductive methods that promote meaningful students’ participation. 3. 18. Decontextualized language, logic, and algebra : the relationship between Mozambican students’ achievement in school mathematics and their language and social background

    Författare :Ribas Salatiel Madaucane Guambe; Núria Planas; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Education; Matematik och lärande;

    Sammanfattning : Researchers in mathematics education have always stressed the relevance of algebra in school mathematics and have produced a wide range of empirical and theoretical outcomes in relation to this field. In addition, the importance of language proficiency for success in school mathematics has been explored in a variety of different contexts, as has been the relation between students’ social class and achievement in mathematics. 4. 19. SAM-tal om bedömning och matematikkunnighet : En studie av lärares tankestilar

    Författare :Sanna Wettergren; Viveca Lindberg; Astrid Pettersson; Anders Jönsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; thought collective; thought style; formative assessment; assessment for learning; mathematical knowing; professional development; tankekollektiv; tankestil; formativ bedömning; matematikkunnighet; kollegialt lärande; Didactics; didaktik;

    Sammanfattning : Inom ramen för svensk grundskola har enskilda lärare varit betrodda med en högre grad av autonomi än lärare i många andra europeiska länder. Exempelvis har lärare givits ett stort ansvar att bedöma och betygssätta elevers kunskaper. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Att lära sig resonera : om elevers möjligheter att lära sig matematiska resonemang

    Författare :Johan Sidenvall; Michael Hörnquist; Konrad Schörnborn; Lena Tibell; Kerstin Pettersson; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Students only learn what they get the opportunity to learn. This means, for example, that students do not develop their reasoning- and problem solving competence unless teaching especially focuses on developing these competencies. LÄS MER
