1. Proton Relaxation Properties of a Particulate Iron Oxide MR Contrast Agent in Different Tissue Systems : Implications for Imaging
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the relationship between in vivo contrast agent concentration and magnetic resonance (MR) signal response is an important requirement in contrast enhanced MR imaging in general and in MR based perfusion imaging in particular. This relationship is a complex function of the properties of the contrast agent as well as the structure of the target tissue. LÄS MER
2. Multiparametric MRI for evaluation of tumour treatment response : Studies of 177Lu-octreotate therapy of neuroendocrine tumour
Sammanfattning : Clinical assessment of tumour response to treatment largely relies on estimates of tumour size by, e.g., measuring the largest tumour diameters on magnetic resonance (MR) or computed tomography (CT) images, weeks or months after treatment. LÄS MER
3. Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Techniques in Diabetes
Sammanfattning : In order to further advance the field of diabetes research there is a great need for establishing validated non-invasive quantitative techniques to study the pancreas and other tissues of importance for blood glucose regulation. The general aim of this thesis was to explore magnetic resonance techniques and positron emission tomography as such tools. LÄS MER
4. Optimisation and Validation of Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast MRI Perfusion Measurements
Sammanfattning : The studies presented in this thesis concern the optimisation and evaluation of the dynamic susceptibility contrast magnetic resonance imaging (DSC-MRI) technique for the assessment of perfusion-related parameters of the brain, such as cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV) and mean transit time (MTT). Several methodological factors influence these measurements, for example, contrast-agent administration, arterial input function (AIF) registration, choice of deconvolution algorithm and the choice of pulse-sequence parameters. 5. On potentials and limitations of perfusion MRI in neurological disorders
Sammanfattning : Cerebral perfusion outlines several parameters which describe the status of cerebral haemodynamics. Numerous neurological diseases affect cerebral perfusion, thus the importance of diagnostic measurements. LÄS MER
