  1. 16. Who benefits when IKEA enters local markets in Sweden? : An empirical assessment using difference-in-difference analysis, synthetic control methods, and Twitter sentiment analysis

    Författare :Yujiao Li; Mark Dougherty; Hasan Fleyeh; Moudud Alam; Oana Mihaescu; Per Johansson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; big-box entry effect; spatial spill-over effect; heterogeneous causal effect; difference-in-difference; synthetic control method; sentiment analysis.; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Policy makers often spend considerable amounts of money to attract IKEA to their region despite not having any empirical measurements on its expected contribution to the local economy. As such, an empirical study of the economic and social impact of new IKEA stores can aid political decision making, and contribute to the literature regarding how big-box retail entry affects the regions where they enter. 2. 17. Simulation of track settlement in railway turnouts-An iterative approach

    Författare :Xin Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; track settlement; Railway switch and crossing; cyclic loading; visco-plasticity; vehicle‒track interaction; 3D finite element analysis; granular material; ballast;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a methodology for simulation of track settlement in railway turnouts (switches andcrossings, S&C) is presented. The methodology predicts the accumulated settlement for a given setof traffic loads using an iterative and cross-disciplinary procedure. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Panentheism, Panpsychism and Neuroscience : In Search of an Alternative Metaphysical Framework in Relation to Neuroscience, Consciousness, Free Will, and Theistic Beliefs

    Författare :Oliver Li; Mikael Stenmark; Karin Johannesson; Aku Visala; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; physicalism; dualism; neuroscience; consciousness; free will; process philosophy; panpsychism; panexperientialism; panentheism; emergence theory; science and religion; theism; Philosophy of Religion; Religionsfilosofi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis philosophically examines, critically discusses, and proposes how a plausible philosophical framework of consciousness and free will should be formulated. This framework takes into account contemporary scientific research on human consciousness and free will and its possible challenges; also it is examined how this framework should be related to theistic beliefs – especially those connected to human and divine consciousness and free will. 4. 19. Thrombospondin 1, an autocrine regulator in T cell adhesion and migration

    Författare :ShuShun Li; Karl-Gösta Sundqvist; Jan Holgersson; Claes Dahlgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; T cell; adhesion; migration; thrombospondin; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Lymphocytes, the principal cells of the immune system, perform the immune function throughout the body by their unique capacity to circulate in blood stream and lymphatic vessels and migrate in lymphoid and non-lymphoid tissues. The mechanisms regulating lymphocyte adhesion and migration, interactions with cells and components within the extracellular matrix are not fully understood. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Chloride Transport in Concrete under the Frost Action – An Experimental Study

    Författare :Bo Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; temperature; chloride; concrete; freeze-thaw cycles; water uptake; chloride profile; frost action; transport;

    Sammanfattning : Frost-induced ingress of chloride in concrete is one of the typical transport phenomena of aggressive substances when structures expose to severe environments such as marine tidal zone and de-icing highway in winter seasons. It is well known that Chloride ingress in concrete causes the reinforcement corrosion. LÄS MER
