  1. 1. Laboratory Investigations of Frost Action Mechanisms in Soils

    Författare :Deniz Dagli; Jan Laue; Tommy Edeskär; Lukas Arenson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cold Regions Soil Mechanics; Frost Action; Frost Depth; Frost Heave; Heat Flow in Soils; Ice Lens Formation; Image Analysis; Laboratory Freezing Test; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Phase change of the water in the soil skeleton under cold climate conditions (also known as frost action in soils) affects soil properties and can be responsible for serious alterations in a soil body; causing damages (due to the volumetric expansion known as frost heave) to structures on or below the ground surface such as foundations, roads, railways, retaining walls and pipelines, etc. In order to improve the current design methods for roads against frost action, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has initiated a research program. 2. 2. On striatum in silico

    Författare :Johanna Frost Nylén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia are a collection of subcortical nuclei involved in movement and action selection. The striatum is the main input nucleus with extensive projections from the cortex and thalamus, and dopaminergic projections from SNc and VTA. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chloride Transport in Concrete under the Frost Action – An Experimental Study

    Författare :Bo Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; temperature; chloride; concrete; freeze-thaw cycles; water uptake; chloride profile; frost action; transport;

    Sammanfattning : Frost-induced ingress of chloride in concrete is one of the typical transport phenomena of aggressive substances when structures expose to severe environments such as marine tidal zone and de-icing highway in winter seasons. It is well known that Chloride ingress in concrete causes the reinforcement corrosion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Frost-induced deterioration of concrete in hydraulic structures : Interactions between water absorption, leaching and frost action

    Författare :MARTIN ROSENQVIST; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :Vattenbyggnader; Dammar; Betong; Cement; Vattenabsorption; Vattenmättnadsgrad; Nedbrytning; Frostbeständighet; Spjälkning; Makroskopisk islinsbildning; Urlakning; Synergi; Hydraulic structures; Dams; Concrete; Cement; Water absorption; Degree of saturation; Deterioration; Frost resistance; Spalling; Macroscopic ice lens growth; Leaching; Synergy;

    Sammanfattning : Frost deterioration of concrete can result in severe consequences to the safety, durability and functionality of a structure since it impairs the strength of the concrete. Frost damage may occur to structures that are in contact with water and subjected to frost action. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Moisture Conditions and Frost Resistance of Concrete in Hydraulic Structures

    Författare :Martin Rosenqvist; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Structures; Hydro Power; Concrete Dams; Concrete; Frost Resistance; Scaling; Spalling; Moisture Absorption; Macroscopic Ice Lens Growth;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to the winter conditions in Sweden, the effects of frost action may have a considerable impact on the deterioration of concrete. Both superficial and internal damage, which are suspected to have been caused by frost action, have been found in concrete in hydraulic structures. LÄS MER
