  1. 1. Intestinal IgA synthesis: Localization and requirements for IgA class switch recombination

    Författare :Peter Bergqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgA; Intestine; Gut associated lymphoid tissue; class switch recombination; CD40; germ free;

    Sammanfattning : Production of IgA at mucosal surfaces is one of the most striking features of the mucosal immune system. Despite that IgA was first discovered in the 1950’s and secretory IgA described in gut secretions and breast milk in the mid 1960’s we still have limited information about the sites and exact requirements for IgA class switch recombination. Sammanfattning : In the beginning of this millennium the increasing level of work related illness was de-scribed, in the public debate, as one of the most serious and costly social problems of our times. An important question in the present study is whether or not the newspapers contributed to make their readers, the politicians and other social actors aware of this vast and growing problem. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mucosal immunity in the respiratory tract : The role of IgA in protection against intracellular pathogens

    Författare :Ariane Rodríguez; Carmen Fernández; Lennart Hammarström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mucosal immunity; respiratory tract; IgA; intracellular pathogens; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : The lungs and upper airways are mucosal surfaces that are common site for infection with an enormous variety of inhaled pathogens. Therefore, induction of immune responses in the respiratory tract is crucial for protection against respiratory diseases. One of the pathogens infecting the host via the respiratory tract is Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on streptococcal M proteins. Interactions with IgA and human complement regulators

    Författare :Eskil Johnsson; Institutionen för laboratoriemedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; antigenic variation; factor H; C4b-binding protein; Fc-receptor; IgA; Streptococcus pyogenes; M protein; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; virology; mycology; bacteriology;

    Sammanfattning : The human pathogenic bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus) expresses several different virulence factors. Of these, the M protein is regarded as one of the most important, because it confers resistance to phagocytosis, allowing the bacterium to multiply in blood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of gut IgA induction by helper T cells

    Författare :Inta Gribonika; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mucosal immunology; secretory IgA; T regulatory cells; T follicular helper cells; Th17 cells; Peyer s patches; IgA class-switch recombination; germinal centers;

    Sammanfattning : The gut is the largest lymphoid organ in the body. Due to intense and constant exposure to the outside world, it also functions as the most important portal of entry for many pathogens. LÄS MER
