  1. 1. Particle Transcytosis Across the Human Intestinal Epithelium : Model Development and Target Identification for Improved Drug Delivery

    Författare :Elisabet Gullberg; Per Artursson; Barry Hirst; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; M-cell; FAE; Peyer´s patches; oral vaccination; uptake; endocytosis; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The use of nano- and micro-particulate carriers as delivery systems for oral vaccines has been under investigation for several decades. Surprisingly little is known of their uptake in the human intestine, despite the fact that substantial improvement is required to achieve adequate immune responses in man after oral administration. 2. 2. Immunopathogenesis of Gai2-deficient mice. A model of inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Lena Öhman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammatory Bowel Disease; Mucosa; Apoptosis; Bordetella pertussis; G-protein;

    Sammanfattning : The intestinal mucosa is the largest lymphoid organ in the body, and it simultaneously has to protect us from any pathogen that might enter the gastrointestinal tract as well as maintaining tolerance to most antigens, mainly in the form of dietary constituents and microbial products. A dysfunctional control of local intestinal immune responses may lead to development of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - the common name for ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn´s disease (CD). 3. 3. Dendritic cell maturation and death during Salmonella infection. Role of pro-inflammatory cytokines and MyD88

    Författare :Malin Sundquist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Dendritic cells; Costimulatory molecules; Bacterial infection; Pro-inflammatory cytokines; Toll-like receptors; Ag presentation; Cell death;

    Sammanfattning : The costimulatory molecules CD80 and CD86 are required for the ability of dendritic cells (DC) to induce both tolerance and immunity. This thesis investigates the control of CD80/CD86 upregulation in vivo on DC during Salmonella infection. LÄS MER
