  1. 1. Deficient bodies and divine interventions : women, midwives, and the medicalisation of childbirth - a gender perspective

    Författare :Agneta Westergren; Monica Christianson; Kerstin Edin; Ingela Lundgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Birth experiences; birth plan; birth setting; childbirth; cross-sectional study; femininity; feminism; focused ethnography; gender perspective; intrapartum interventions; medicalisation; midwifery; qualitative methods; women; Barnmorska; feminism; förlossning; förlossningsplan; förlossningsupplevelse; förlossningsvård; genuskonstruktion; genusperspektiv; intervention; kvalitativ metod; kvinna; medikalisering; observation; tvärsnittsstudie;

    Sammanfattning : Background In Sweden, one of the safest countries to give birth and to be born in, there is a trend towards increasing interventions during childbirth, and fewer women than ever give birth without having their labours induced or augmented, epidural analgesia, or caesarean section. While interventions at times are vital for a safe birth, there is a growing body of evidence demonstrating that an overuse of medical and technological interventions may have adverse effects on woman and child. 2. 2. T-cell Differentiation and Immunological Homeostasis in Lymphopenic and Kappa Light Chain Deficient Mice

    Författare :Frida Ekholm Pettersson; Fredrik Ivars; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; T cells; differentiation; homeostasis; cytokines; mice; SCID; κ-deficient; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : T lymphocytes are primarily involved in adaptive, cell-mediated, immune reactions. In this thesis T cells were studied regarding central and peripheral differentiation and homeostatic mechanisms for maintanance of the immune repertoire.The influence by mature T cells on thymic development was studied in C. 3. 3. Studies of collective phenomena in neutron deficient nuclei : by means of lifetime measurements, angular correlation measurements and the recoil-decay tagging technique

    Författare :Karin Andgren; Bo Cederwall; Paul Nolan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heavy-ion reactions; multi-detector arrays; recoil separator; in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy; high spin states; lifetime measurements; recoil-decay tagging; nuclear shape; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The nucleus is a mesoscopic system that retains features from both the quantum and macroscopic worlds. A basic property of a macroscopic body is its shape. Nuclear shapes can be deduced from experimental data as they influence the excitation mode of the nucleus and hence the energies and lifetimes of its excited levels. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on peripheral tolerance in Aire-deficient mice

    Författare :Evelina Lindmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases such as diabetes mellitus and multiple sclerosis are increasing today, but the mechanism behind these diseases remains largely unknown. Autoimmunity arise when the immune system of an individual start to attack its own organs and tissues. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genetics of the carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type Ia

    Författare :Cecilia Bjursell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CDG Ia; PMM2; chromosome 16; linkage; linkage disequilibrium; prenatal diagnosis;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, a revolution in the development of new techniques have made it possible to perform genetic studies of inherited disorders without prior knowledge about the gene product or the function of the gene. The techniques include linkage studies, allelic association studies, physical mapping and the sequencing of candidate genes for finding disease causing mutations. LÄS MER
